That would be the logical repair. You can also try seperating the two pins a little in order to acheive a tighter fit.

Your Problem may very well be your POWER ADAPTER. Try changing that instead.

Power adaptor cord missing and system recovery disks missing

Well, if you only lost the power cord you can easily gets a new one in any computer shop, if you are missing the charger you can search for one that be compatible; this model uses a LiteOn model PA-1600-06 or you can try one with this specifications:
Input: 100-240 V 1.5A 60-60hz (this doesn't matter too much)
Output: 19V 3.16A (this is the really important).

If you need drivers you can download them from ECS webpage:

Balance #CN6555 note book

A local PC store should be able to supply at least the power connector that is within the laptop. A lot of laptops only have solder points holding the power connector in place. Over time and putting pressure on the power cord will loosen those points. The power connector itself should cost about 50 bucks. Having it installed depends on labor charges.

G'luck

Neeed powercord for 557s laptop

The Balance CN6555 PC Notebook is actually an ECS (Elitegroup Computer Systems) 557. Their website can be found at

http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?CategoryID=3&TypeID=13&DetailID=479&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=58&LanID=9

The power cord may be found at most electronics stores. These are not all that hard to find.
