The freon tank is the compressor and the clicking you hear is the relay trying to start the unit . i don't know how old this unit is but it needs a new relay and it may work . there are hard start kits that can be installed also . called 3 in one and this replaces the relay and give's a kick start . ok for older units / if newer with run cap then i would use the org replacement part., hope this hepls mm

Fridge is getting cool but not cold and freezer isnt freezing and it has been re gased

Check the themostat. If you hear the compressor cutting out after running only a short while, that would be the problem. If the compressor runs constantly and the unit is not getting cold it is usually a gas problem, even though it has recently been re-gassed.

Starts only when it cold and does not start whwen hot

just off the top of my head. it may be the fuel pump relay, when its cold it is ok. but when hot it will not work. check it out. hope this helps. have a good day. if when hot. see if fuel pump is running, just get under car at tank in back. and have a person turn the key to on, while you put hand on tank to feel vibration. if pump works its not the relay. if it does not when hot,it is the relay! a fuel pump only turns on a few seconds to get fuel to engine, then when running it is on all the time.

REFRIGERATOR NOT GETTING COLD

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. If the relay is ok there is a compressor problem or low freon it it don't start

Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Kitchenaid Side by Side Refrigerator minus the cold air?

your compressor has issues. some times the start relay goes bad or the compressor windings are shot. thats why it clicks on then off .a service tech can install a "3-n-1 hard start on it. sometimes that works. good luck

evaporator coils are behind the rear cover inside the freezer at the bottom.
observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).
Compressor or freon problem will require a repairman.

A/C blows hot on 1999 Chevy Cavalier

That could be the case. The other problem could be that you are losing freon for some reason. Find someone who can check the freon level for you to make sure that it is not leaking. The valve to fill the freon can get bent which allows for the gas to escape and then you run into this problem.

No cold air. compressor works for seconds and shuts off

Replace the compressor, if it quits running after a few seconds, it is more than likely your compressor causing the problems

Fan running,both cold settings at 4 , freezer 14 degrees C

you need to replace the start components on the compressor, theres a relay that mounts on to the compressor that takes out the start winding after it starts the compressor up. You can also try whats called a three in one to try to start up the unit. Good Luck.

GE chest freeze won't get cold

the noise your hearing indicates the possibility of a bad start relay on the comp or possibly it just came loose during the move. on the side of the compressor you will see 2-3 wires running into an electrical connection reseat this first. if still no operation replace teh relay. you can purchase thru any reputable appliance parts dealer. after replacing the relay if you have no operation then likely problem is seized comp.
domestic freezers do not have low pressure switches that indicate low freon charge.
