I would replace you bake ignitor or broil check to see which one doesnt work. depending on which brand the maufacture wants u to buy thier parts .... u can use an sgr403 or a 12400035 ignitors depending on if its round or a rectangulat ignitor,, to see pics of thoe parts go to repairclinic.com and enter those part numbers in these are less expenisive just made by a different manufacturer, if u want the orginal parts u would have to research it by model number, but those parts are going to be double maybe 3 times the price of those ignitors i listed, usually the bake and broil ignitors are the same on most models, usually check it out, dont touch the ignitor bar though when installing its like halogen bulbs dont get oils from your hands on it cuts the life span down on it, k hope this helps good day mate cherriio lol im not english i just like saying that, let me know how it goes drop me a testimonall thanks

KGHST307HBS6 bake cycle does not heat up, no gas smell, broiler still works, ignitor glows about as bright as the broiler ignitor and was recently replaced. The gas valve recently replaced and no smell of...

you have 2 posibilities the first one is very unprobable and the second will fix the oven

1) the new gas valve is defective and while the proper amprage is being supplied to it,it simply wont open

2) even though the bake ignitor is indeed coming on it isn't drawing the proper amp draw (3.2-3.6 amps) to open the gas valve ,the very fact the ignitor comes on totally eminates that the control isn't providing power to it for the bake ignitor to heat

i have been a appliance repair technician for over 30 years and am 100% confident that by replacing the bake ignitor the oven will work fine

My kenmore gas oven won't heat. I turn to dial to temp i want can smell gas building up in oven and can see a glow in bottom of oven but will not ignite. Sometimes if I turn on a cooking eye I can then...

When the bake igniter becomes weak or burns out, your oven would not bake. The bake igniter is usually mounted on the oven burner. It's about 1 inch by 4-8 inches (depending on the model), and comes in round or flat styles. If you don't see the igniter glow at all, it's probably burned out. Replace the igniter if found defective. Note: one of the exceptions could be that your oven is set to automatic mode instead of manual. If this is the case, set your oven to manual mode and check again.

If the bake igniter glows red and not bright yellow or white, it is probably because it is too weak. When this happens, the safety valve would not let the gas out into the oven burner. A weak igniter must be replaced.

A faulty igniter is probably the most common cause, however there are others:

-- defective thermostat
-- defective selector switch
-- defective gas safety valve
-- defective gas valve coils

My three-year old Maytag oven leaks gas when in bake mode but not broil. Smell dissipates after cooking a while. Oven temp way off of setting.

Hi,

There is a good chance that the oven thermostat is faulty, not only that i would highly recommend you get a 'Gas Safe' engineer to carry out safety checks, as a seal/gasket could be faulty.

I hope this helps.

Cgr3765adc, during bake mode upper burner does not ignite, gas smell. upper burner does ignite during broiler mode however. this problem seems to be in control module perhaps, not with igniter or burner...

In bake mode only the bottom burner will ignite. The gas smell could be caused by improper adjustment of the air intake on the bake (bottom) burner or something (foil) covering the holes in the oven cavity floor.

Amana gas range will not heat in "bake" mode.

Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage 110-120v AC. If there is a line voltage on the ignitor and it's not coming on - replace.
Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265;
rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.

Good luck!

Oven Burner turns off during preheat

Mike, I think your problem is in the ignitor itself. Turn the gas off and see how many amps it's drawing during the bake mode. It needs between 3.2 and 3.6 amps to keep that valve open. Then ohm out the temperature probe, appox 1132ohms at room temp. You can see if your electronic control will go into a quick test by pressing and holding the cancel and broil buttons together for 3 seconds. First kill the power to the range and power back up before entering. When quick test appears you can check the bake relay by pressing bake. The relay should activate and 1 should be displayed. Same thing for convection bake except the fan should run too. Catriver...post back.
