Hi ,

There's another way to solved that probably toy made a clean installation of the windows 7 might as well you have to reinstall your old operation system whether XP or Vista then try to upgrade them . Here a link how to do upgrade http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/install-reinstall-uninstall so that the native driver might retain in the device.

Did you have Win 7 earlier also? I guess you have the CD you got with the purchase of the copier. You can use the CD to install the copier again.
If you had an earlier version of Windows, you will have to download Windows 7 drivers for your copier.

Look at removing the upper and lower filters from the CD drive on Windows, Microsoft has a guide here

CD Rom drives don't have drivers as such, so the drivers you need are for your motherboard. If the drive has failed, you can get any DVD drive that has the same kind of connector (parallel IDE) and replace it.

Your computer seems to have a virus problem.Try getting in to the safe mode and run the full system Anti-Virus scan....then put your Genuine Wndows CD in the drive....restart boot with the CD...and run a System repair...this will solve your problem..

Can I install windows on the Eee PC

Yes it is possiable to install Windows OS on the machine.

you would need an unpartitioned space on the Hard disk depending on the OS.

Win xp : 900 MB
Win Vista: 1.5 GB
Win 7 : 2 GB

you would also need a windows bootable disk.

once you have the above, change the first boot device in the bios DVD, insert the bootable CD in the CD Drive, restart the computer and follow the screen instructions

ok what may have happened is that your cd drive may have quit on you. try pushing in on the cd drive to make sure that the whole drive is in the laptop all the way becasue it is an ide drive it may be loose if any of the screws are loose or missing on the bottom of the laptop.
and also check your device manager in windows to make sure the drivers are present. If none of this help you may need to replace the drive. If so here are dell's insrtuctions on how to do that.
here's the link on how to remove and replace that.DELL 1501
hope this helps. you can buy a new cd drive on ebay if you need one.
