These have not been sold new for a while (in the UK).

Do you mean the price of an equivalent camera, or the price (some years ago) when you could buy it new, and in which part of the world.

You can get a lot of them "as new" - from £5 - £20 (inc shipping) on eBay .. for example ....

Local charity shops int the UK would have a price tag of £1 - £5 on it nowadays ,and not expect it to sell. Film cameras have died a death here, and this minolta was never a top rated model.

Where and how do you find the battery. minolta riva70 af

Your camera uses a single 3v lithium CR123 battery. Most larger electronics shops sell them at a ridiculous price in twin packs, or you can get single examples such as the Panasonic version for under £2 including shipping on ebay..

The link is for example and convenience only, I bought the same item last week from that supplier. You may prefer to use alternative suppliers and may have to if you live outside the UK, but the point is that they are easily available and don't have to be expensive.

I have a Nikon D3100 and want to buy a zoom lens 70-300.Please help I am confused is a Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6G compatible? And is it automatic focus?

That lens will work with the D3100, except for the autofocusing. In order to autofocus with the D3100, you need AF-S lenses, such as the AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED or the
AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR.

Can the quantaray for Nikon AF 70-300mm zoom lens be used with a digital nikon camera?

Yes, assuming we're discussing SLR cameras. It can also be used with most Nikon film SLRs.

Hello i have a Quantaray 70-300mm DI f/4-5.6 Digital AF Zoom Lens. what size lens cover do i need for it?

Look at the writing on the lens. There is a number next to a circle with a line through it. The 70-300 is probably made by Tamron and sold under the Quantaray name. Probably a 62mm diameter.

Cameras compatible with Quantaray AF 70-300mm lens

Depending on how new your Minolta SLR film camera was, the lens may or may not work on a Minolta Digital SLR. In many cases, a lens with the correct mount (in this case, a Minolta mount) can be used on the same brand of camera in the digital format.

One thing you should know is that DSLR sensors are, generally speaking, smaller than the size of a 35mm film negative. Long story short, that means that your lens will have a magnification factor on the DSLR. Usually, it is in the range of 150%, so a 70-300 lens from a film camera would cover 105 to 450 on a Digital SLR.

To be sure about the mount, you'll need to seek advice specific to Minoltas -- probably best to take your lens to a local camera shop and see for sure if it fits and what features will work (aperature, auto-focus, etc) and which won't work on the DSLR.

here is a link to an ebay search for minolta to canon eos adapter, they sell for just about every camera. i know it sucks, buying a new camera that wont work with your favorite lens, but i think you might be better served focusing (couldnt help myself) on camera features and pricing. i own a canon dslr and love it. sigma has a cool dslr. it has a three layer image sensor, with a removable on sensor ir filter. the ir filter thing is really cool.
