Question about Casio Pathfinder Solar Triple Sensor Black Resin Watch PAG70 1V

1 Answer

My solar-powered Casio Pathfinder is now flashing the words ''Low Battery'' a few times a day. At these times, the battery level display is in the L range. I have had the watch since 2008 and never observed this until very recently. If I put the watch in some light, the message goes off and the battery level display says it is in the M range. Do I need to replace the battery?

So the batteries are Solar Powered and the batteries are no longer "holding" the charging from light sources?

There are 4 batteries in the model and it is best to take it to a jeweler to have them replaced. That way they can replace the gasket if necessary as well to maintain the watch's water resistance. I've looked up on the CASIO site as well as some other sites and noted that the user's are mostly very happy with the watch. The only complaint was the number of batteries (cost of the batteries are about $3.00 a piece plus the jeweler's fee of about $25.00).

No, it doesn't seem the batteries are rechareable, but the solar augments their supply. When the watch is exposed to the light, the solar cells provide the power to the watch and it doesn't draw from the batteries thus extending their life.

Casio pathfinder battery operated watch keeps blanking out display?

Your watch is solar powered, so I think it isn't charged lately. At a low charge, the watch goes into saving mode by switching off the display (while keeping the time, date, etc.). To charge the watch leave it in a brightly lit spot for a day or two. That should be enough to make the watch function as normal again.

Casio PAW-1200T Tough Solar Pathfinder watch says OPEN. Watch has never been opened, and solar battery has full charge. Nothing works but the basic time and the light.

so here is the fix if you get op en display on your casio pathfinder or whatever model. mine happens to be a paw 1200t
1. you gotta break it open 2 pins each side band comes off.
2. pry off the side pieces. this exposes 4 screws.
3. the base then comes off be careful of the gasket.
4. once inside. notice a round circular object on the base and a small oval shiny gold copper piece.
5. For whatever reason the shiny copper piece has shifted and does not make contact with the tiny little springs there are 2 if you shift the base to make contact with the gold piece the op en goes away and watch is back to normal.
6. the fix is move this little piece back to where it belongs. i got lucky and the glue still held when i firmly moved it to its original location. super glue came to mind if it wont stay where it belongs.

7. gasket orientation and cleaning out the gasket channel is a given i used welding tip cleaners to do the intricate work. under the bands are very grungy. mine is about 5-6 years old. reassemble the way it came out.

if your battery is good and you get this op en look to your display for whatever reason this worked for me and if casio uses this as a warranty or warning of water coming in your watch it was a STUPID DUMB IDEA. those springs should be solid state and the watch is useless until it is fixed no light, no baro, no alt, no comp. notta and no buttons work. there is no reason whatsoever that this shiny copper thing shifts but it happened to me and my watch is working and my battery has had H or full power since day one.

The word "LOW" always appearing

The word LOW means that the solar battery charger is not charging. This could be a defective charger or you're not out in the sun long enough to keep it charged.

From your description the solar cell charges the battery and keeps it topped up. I think the rechargeable battery is the problem because when the screen goes blank the battery level drops to low and the LCD blanks out which would explain the intermittent operation of the watch. I think it is worth getting it checked out with an estimate.

Protrek casio watche just stoped working

Is it SOLAR?
I have a Casio Pathfinder, SOLAR, ATOMIC! They have a permanent battery!!!
It must be exposed to the sun occasionally to charge. If yours has nothing on the display, try putting it out in the sun for a day. Put it in a window, sitting on a window sill. Depending on how little charge it has, it may take as long as three days to charge.
Otherwise, the alternative is calling Casio, getting an RMA and sending it to them for a battery replacement.

Like anon129 I had the same problem. Those "outdoor" functions need more battery power than just telling the time and the stopwatch do. When the rechargeable lithium battery gets old and tired - which they apparently sometimes do for no very good reason - it can't provide enough power when required to, so it goes into recovery mode. It's very annoying but if your battery level indicator is already showing H the only solution is to replace the battery.
My second battery seems to be lasting better, but I'm not leaving it charging in the sun for ages this time, as I think it overheats it when the battery is full. I'm also not using the outdoor features as much, and the light hardly at all.
