HI,

The access voilation errors are usually caused by unmanaged softwares.In your case it is related to the router firmware may be or the software. iam not sure. but here is the main support no. you can contact them they will help you out in solving it..

Did you try Internet Connection wizard.  If you can manually put that address in the proxy settings adhoc.  But if you can do the wizard, that is the best way to go.

Reset the router by holding in the reset button for 15 to 20 seconds, then wait for all lights to return. If you have DSL wait for the dsl light to be on solid, once thats complete if your using vista and still unable to connect run "diagnose and repair". If after that your still unable to connect, open "run" type "cmd" and hit enter....the type "ipconfig" and hit enter, you should get an ip address, subnet and default gateway. one at a time type "ping" hit space bar 1 time then type the ip address in as shown in the list and hit enter, if 4 return then ping the default gateway, if it returns 4 then ping www.yahoo.com, if return 4 then remove Norton or Mcafee from your system and try again.

3. it should redirect you to the yahoo sign in page to where you see username and password.

Safari can't open the page because your computer is not connected to the internet. Version 4.1.3

My linksys w/2phone ports cannot hook up with the ethernet


Most Cable Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use Media Access Control (MAC) Address authentication to establish Internet connection for end-users. MAC address is a unique identifier assigned to the network adapter/s of the computer.
To set up your Linksys router to work with a Cable ISP, you have to enable the MAC Clone feature of the router. MAC Cloning is a procedure which enables a router to copy the MAC address of the computer registered with the ISP.
To set up a Linksys router with Cable connection, you need to perform four steps using the computer that's been registered with the ISP:
i. Verifying Internet Connection
ii. Connecting the Devices Together
iii. Checking the Router's LEDs
iv. Setting Up a Linksys Router for Cable Internet Connection

Verifying Internet Connection
Connect the computer to the Broadband modem using an Ethernet cable without the router installed. If you cannot get online, contact your ISP. If it's online, use the computer to set up the router.
NOTE: Some cable modems use the USB port. If the physical connection is via USB port, you may not be able to go online via Ethernet connection. Contact your ISP to have the Ethernet port of the modem configured.

Connecting the Devices Together
After confirming the Internet connection through the modem, connect the modem to the Internet port of the router; connect the computer to any of the four Ethernet ports at the back of the router. For instructions, click here.

After connecting the devices together, check the lights on the front panel of the router. Ensure that the Internet light, as well as numbered light corresponding to the Ethernet port where the computer is connected, is lit. For further instructions, click here.
Setting Up a Linksys Router for Cable Internet Connection

Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.

Step 2:
On the Setup tab, click the MAC Address Clone sub-tab.

How to setup internet between 2 EnGenius EOC-2610 devices?


Thanks for a very thorough problem report. It's a little ambiguous near the end, though, so I will have to restate what I think I understand you are saying.
You are saying that you have your internet connection and AP in one building, and two devices or PCs in that building can access the internet and share files (though you don't specify if they are using the EOC-2610 access point or are just accessing the router in some other fashion). But you have a remote building where there is one PC and one EOC-2610 in Client Bridge mode, and although both EOC-2610 units seem to be communicating with each other, the PC will not communicate with anything. (I presume you have inspected the access point's configuration screens and verified that it does have the other EOC-2610 listed as a connected client.)
First, the PC in the remote building has to be connected to the Client Bridge EOC-2610 by its ethernet cable in order to access the network. Second, the PC in the remote building has to have a valid IP address in the range 192.168.0.0/24, or it won't communicate with anything. If you are relying on your router's DHCP to assign your PC an IP address, verify that this has happened by examining your PC network properties. If you are assigning all IP addresses manually, make sure you have assigned the PC an address, and one that doesn't duplicate some other device.
Sometimes failure to specify DNS servers appears to be a lack of communication with the network. Open a browser and type 66.70.119.204 in the URL bar. If you get to fixya.com, you have a good network connection. If you type fixya.com in the URL bar and can't get the same result, you need to define DNS servers on the PC (or inside your router).

Hello, I just installed a new router, and it all


verify your internet modem it connected to the WAN port on your WRT160N, login to the WRT160N and go to the "status" tab and see what your internet status is. You should see a page similar to this:

Verify your router has an Internet IP address. If it does not, then you haven't finished configuring your router. If it does have an IP address, then turn off your firewall and see if you can get connected that way.

Cannot detect network connection


Hi,

Instead of running the CD, try to configure the router manually. First, make sure that you have verified internet connectivity between your PC and your modem. Once verified, connect your modem to the internet port of your router and then your PC to any of the ports (1, 2, 3, or 4) at the back of your router. Turn ON your modem, router and PC.

On your PC go to Start>Run> then type "cmd" and hit the Enter key.
On the black screen type ipconfig/all and hit the Enter key.
Check the IP address of your Local Area Connection.
If it is 192.168.1.xxx, then you are good to go.
Check the connectivity between your PC and the router. On the black screen type ping 192.168.1.1 and hit the Enter key.
If you're getting replies, minimize the window and open a browser.
Type http://192.168.1.1 and hit the Enter key.
Once prompted with a username and password type admin (admin is the default password).
Once you're on the Web interface of the router, enter your internet connection type and then save the settings.
Once done, click on the Status tab and then check the internet IP address.
If there's an internet IP address, try to open a new window and see if you can access the internet.

- Open the control panel
- Open the network connection
- Right click on wireless networks (Choose properties)
- Choose Internet protocol then click properties
- Assign DNS Server address (Preferred DNS: 4.2.2.2, Alternate DNS: 4.2.2.3)

your isp is at&t? please verify the ip address straight to the modem if its is 192.168.1.1 and if your modem from your isp is set to DHCP or BRIDGE mode.

IF IP address is 192.168.1.1 (DHCP)
... change the LAN IP address of the router to 192.168.2.1 or 5.1 to prevent any IP conflict
by doing this :

1. access setup page of router usually 192.168.1.1
2. under setup tab look for the ip address, change it, then save
3. click on the status tab , and look for a VALID ip address

IF MODEM is set to BRIDGE mode
.... please ask username and password from your ISP coz we would need to set your router to PPOE...

2. under setup tab look for INTERNET CONNECTION TYPE
3. select PPPoE
fill in username and password
select "keep"alive
save
4. click on status tab
look for LOG in TYPe ===> click CONNECT
if connected : check a valid IP address
if authentication failed verify again your username and password from your ISP

Problems with home networking between desktop running XP (wired) and laptop running Vista (wireless), using DSL broadband (PPPoE) internet connection, Westell 6100 modem/router & Linksys Wireless-G WR


Hi MissGarbs,

Based on your post and description, it would seem that your problem is caused by:
1. having 2 routers on the same system;
2. Both routers performs DHCP server function; and
3. Both routers use 192.168.1.1 as default IP Add.

Your problems are:
a. laptop has no internet access only local network; and
b. you cannot access the router to make changes.

A possible solution. Pls back up your configurations first before attempting changes (or log them down somewhere so if needed you can revert back).

A. Power off and remove all connections to the LinkSys WRT54GS, set it aside for the moment. The objective is to verify/establish Internet connection.

Connect your desktop PC via LAN cable to the Westell 6100. Boot your desktop PC, right click on the networking icon bottom right side in your system tray, click on Status, click on Properties button, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click on properties button (mid right):
tick "Use the following IP address"
Enter values as shown below -
IP address: 192.168.1.4
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS servers: 68.238.0.12 & 68.238.112.12
click on OK, OK, Close.

Power on the Westell 6100, give it time to sync and connect to your Verison. .In the desktop PC, open a browser. Verify that your desktop have access to the Internet, do it on a few sites. Should you have no internet access, pls seek assistance from Verizon tech support. You need not mention the LinkSys nor the laptop since you have as of the moment a single PC attached directly to the Westell 6100.

If it is all green & go, power up your laptop and boot to Windows. Remove the LAN cable at the back of your desktop and connect it to the laptop's networking port. Do the same configuration ("Use the following IP address") to the networking/LAN card of your laptop.
Enter values as shown below -
IP address: 192.168.1.5
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS servers: 68.238.0.12 & 68.238.112.12

In the laptop open a browser. Verify that your laptop have access to the Internet, do it on a few sites. Should you have no internet access, pls seek assistance from Verizon tech support again. You need not mention the LinkSys nor the desktop since you have as of the moment a single laptop attached directly to the Westell 6100. (This is of course assuming that your laptop has a networking port)

If both the desktop PC and the laptop can now connect albeit individually to the Internet, the LinkSys may now be inserted into the system.

B. Disconnect the LAN connection of the laptop to the Westel 6100 and connect it to one of the 4 LAN ports at the rear of the WRT54GS; do the same with the desktop (use another LAN cable). The LinkSys for the moment need not be connected to the Westell. So in effect you have 2 units connected to the WRT54GS. Do a hard reset on the WRT54GS, with the power on, press on the small reset button at the rear of the unit. Allow it to reinitialize. Open browsers to both laptop and desktop. Type "192.168.1.1", password is "admin" and the username is blank, verify that you can open the LinkSys Web Configuration Utility. On either the laptop or the PC desktop (assuming both can access the same page), on the setup page of the LinkSys Config, change your Internet Connection Type to "Static IP",
Internet IP Address 192.168.1.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS servers: 68.238.0.12 & 68.238.112.12

Scroll down to Network Setup,
Change IP Address to 192.168.1.3
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Disable the DHCP Server (You can have at any given time only 1 instance of a DHCP server, either from the LinkSys or the Westell, but you can also have NO DHCP server if you are using static addresses.)

Click on Save Settings at the bottom, exit, and close. Verify that the LinkSys can be accessed from any of your browsers by typing "192.168.1.3", if no; go through the procedure again very carefully. If yes, proceed to change the Default Gateway of both the laptop and desktop PC from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.3, all other configurations stand.

In your laptop, right click on the WiFi networking icon (bottom right of System Tray). Click on Status, click on Properties button, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click on properties button (mid right):
tick "Use the following IP address"
Enter values as shown below -
IP address: 192.168.1.6
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.3
DNS servers: 68.238.0.12 & 68.238.112.12
click on OK, OK, Close.

Verify that you can access/connect/ping 192.168.3; 192.168.4; 192.168.1.5; and/or 192.168.1.6 from either the laptop or desktop.

If yes, we can now connect the LinkSys WRT54GS to the Westell 6100. Remove the LAN cable attached to your laptop. Verify that you can still access/connect/ping 192.168.3; 192.168.4; 192.168.1.5; and/or 192.168.1.6 from the laptop even without the LAN cable since you are now connected via WiFi.

If yes, connect that LAN cable to the Westell 6100 LAN port, move the other end from 1 of the WRT54GS ‘ 4 LAN ports to the WAN likewise at the rear of the LinkSys.

Verify that you can access the Internet from either computer. At this moment, you have not assigned a security method (WEP, WPA, MAC Filter). Your choice as to what security you want implemented but offhand I would suggest the simplest, MAC Filter since any other would affect speed of your connection.

Additionally, you may want to enhance you browser connection. In Mozilla, click on Tools, Options, Advanced tab, Network tab, Settings button, tick "Auto-detect proxy settings for this connection, OK, OK;
In IE, Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab, LAN settings button, check "Automatically detect settings", OK, Advance tab, check Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections.
In Opera, Tools, Preferences, Advanced tab, Network, Proxy server buttons, check "Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy, OK, OK.

Normally (and perhaps easier for some) would be using the DHCP and not using static. Experience has shown me that static proves to be more stable especially if WiFi is concerned and in your case, only 2 PCs.
