The Scan button in this machine works only if your computer is powered on and HP solution Centre is running on it. The same is also neede to be configures in HP solution Centre options.
After successful configuration, you can scan and save directly to your computer by just pressing scan button.
It depends a bit on the software you have installed (OS, etc). If you installed the full-featured software before connecting the all-in-one to your computer, you can scan immediately from the computer. For Windows, open the HP Solution Center (by double-clicking on the icon or Start > All Programs > HP folder > HP Solution Center). Put your document to be scanned face down on the scanner glass and close the lid (ADF pages go face up, top edge first). Click the tab in the Solution Center for your HP product (if you have more than one) and click Scan Picture or Scan Document as appropriate. Set the scanner settings in the pop-up window if needed. Click Scan to start the scan. To use the buttons on the scanner, you need to set the destinations for the buttons in the HP Solution Center (Scan to destination for example) and have the HP monitor running on your computer (this listens to the buttons).
Scanners work with bi-directional communication so USB hubs, print servers or bad cables can result in the printer functions working but not the scanner.
If you install the generic OS driver (by connecting the all in one to the computer before installing the software), the printer will work but the scanner will functions will be limited (the scanner buttons will not work but other functions will depend on the OS). Windows XP can acquire scans in Paint (File > From Camera or Scanner). Windows Vista and Win7 add Windows Fax and Scan which will also acquire scans (not in all versions of Vista). Vista also can acquire scans with Windows Photo Gallery.
The printer works similarly with the Mac OS but hte names may be different.
Scan from the scanner and camera wizard, the front scan button is useless. Go to My computer, open the scanner icon and scan from there, no need to use the button at all.
If you are getting this message when you are trying to scan from the All-In-One. And If the software is successfully installed in your computer, then you should have a icon in your desktop as HP Solution (if not got to Start> All Programs> HP> HP Solution Center) Then try scanning from there, if you are able to scan from there then try the steps bellow. Open solution center> Settings> Scan settings> Scan to setup> Then in this window click on Restore defaults> Then apply or ok and close all the windows and try to scan from the All-In-One printer. If it still does not work then try the bellow steps: Go to: My computer>C:windows>system32 Copy hpzipm12 minimize this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste minimize this window.
Go back to My computer>C:>windows>system32 Copy hpzinw12 minimize this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste Now you will see two new files in Startup
Now go to My Computer>C:Program Files>HP>Digital Imaging>bin> Copy hpqtra08 close this window
Right click on Start button on the computer>Explore>Programs>Startup>edit>paste Restart the computer
Open Hp Solution Center> Settings>Scan settings and preferences> Scan to button> check destination list> if available applications are not in the destination list then add them in the front panel destination Tried to scan.
Hi,
Let me explain you the real cause so that when ever you face this issue with any printer you will be able to fix this in quick time.
The scanning needs Bi-directional communication and as you are able to print and scan from the computer software fine this shows that the software part of scanning exe file is working fine.
Please try to scan from software and if this works we have to next check for full feature HP software is installed in the computer.
If you are able to scan fine from HP software check for the DIGITAL IMAGING Monitor Icon it will be a green icon in the system tray in the right corner of desktop this icon must be present to enable the scan from front panel scan button. If the icon is there right click on it and exit it and then search for hpqtra08.exe file in the computer if the file is found double click on the application file to get the icon back running on the desktop.
Once done try to scan again from the front panel scan button and check if the issue is resolved.
If the Digital imaging monitor icon is not on the desktop system tray search for the file hpqtra08.exe in the computer and excute the application file .
Even if the icon is there and you are not able to scan from the scan button we have to set the settings in the HP software
In the HP director click on settings >> scan settings >> scan to button settings there click on the Destination list button this will open a small window with Two boxes 1)Available scan list 2) front panel scan to list all we have to do is to move all the programes from the available scan to list to front panel scan to list by selecting each program and click on add to move it to right.
Once done do not forget to save the settings click on OK to save the settings once done try to scan from scan button this should fix the issue.
The Digital imaging monitor icon or Hpqtra08.exe file should be running to enable the scan function from the scan button ...
I hope this will help you in solving the all the issue in future related to scan butto not working the same steps applies to NO SCAN OPTIONS message on printer when you try to scan .....
Regards,
Barret.....
