You may need a Pre-amplifier to "Drive" them? I wonder if the output from the laptop, is enough to drive them? If thats not it then maybe you need to install the Sound Drivers for your Audio setup.

I cant get sound out of the speakers

Hi there bud...Try make sure you have the drivers installed for your Sound Card or motherboard...These should of come with the Sound card or Motherboard on a disk...Just run setup and install...if thats that the case here...what i suggest is try it on any other Pc that you know speakers have worked on...and if it does the same , then it could be that the speakers are faulty..
Hope this helped bud

Labte pulse 285 speakers!

You won't find drivers for these Labtec speakers because they don't exist. They are plug-and-play speakers so they should work as soon as you plug them into your computer. But I have the same problem as you do (I had to format my comp as well and now I'm screwed because the speakers aren't recognized by the computer).
