Sounds like the Technician that is servicing your refrigertor knows very little about thermistors part number WR55X10025 or the WR55X10625 Encoder. Your model has two thermistors one in freezer and the other in fresh food compartment. Thermistors work like a thermometer that sends an electrical signal to the encoder and from encoder to motherboard to regulate each sections temperature. If you have a bad thermistor or a defective encoder/temperature control the signal tells the motherboard nothing. When you have an authorized GE Service Technician he or she should know these things. I'm not here to insult the technician but before I attempt to repair a refrigerator I study what makes it work before I accept the job. I will admit that GE is not very friendly about giving electical diagrams or service manuals to the general public or unauthorized dealers. The parts I mentioned make a whole when it comes to your model. Changing the board is easy and makes the company a lot of money for each visit. What 10 mimutes to change the board and 5 minutes to give you the bill? Click here for thermistor=> WR55X10025 where there is no picture.I will place them below. Click here for encoder=> WR55X10625 also no photo. Click here to go to a page that I will try to update soon with these photos=> GE Artica Profile Technical Information and let me know how things turn out. Visit my site and if you need one on one help let me know. If need you may contact me here on Fixya or my Forum=> Appliance 911 My contact information is located above the Fixya Ad on my blog here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts and Technical Services, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Thank you for the rate! Hope this time the person that repairs your refrigerator takes more time to consider the fact that the motherboard is not always the reason. Yes these boards are sensitive to electrical surge, fan failure, and compressor start component failures. I have yet to see the encoder or thermistors cause board failure. Again Thank You, Sea Breeze

Our refriderator (GE Profile) keeps losing its cool. Even though we have it set to -6 degrees for freezer and 34 degrees for fridge, every month or so it warms up to 45-50 degrees on the fridge and 25-30...

With a Profile the problem is most times the defrost heater has burned out.I have yet to see the control board be the reason. Look into rear of freezer on rear panel if not defrosting it will have a frost line creeping up the panel wall. The defrost heaters for your model have glass tubes surrounding the heating element and most times one you get the ice melted away yo can see black marks inside glass where it burned out. So if you want to do this yourself unplug and remove the rear panel and defrost with a hair drier to speed things up. It may take about two more days before this begins so plan on saving all you can somewhere else. I know, yea right! Anyway things could be worse. I will list the parts you will need and contact info, Thanks Sea Breeze

Gsl25jfpa bs fridge is warm on top and frozen on bottom and freezer is warm

It sounds like the fan in the freezer is not working , to circulate air , and the coldness is just dropping . This will cause the icemaker to stop working first , then the top portion of the refrig next . As this coldness drops , the lower portion of the fridge ( crispers ) , will freeze . The main control board , causes the fan , not to run . Part Number WR55X10656 . The main control board , is located , behind the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " , small panel . There is usually a burnt resistor on the board , which is connected to the fan . Unfortunantly , the whole board will need to be replaced . It is easily replaceable . Doesn't take any special knowledge . All the plugs 6 or 7 , each fit the pin plug designed for it .

My GE side by side Model # GSS20IEPA has frost on

Is the fan in the freezer working ? May have to press the light switch in to test . If not , main control board is probably bad . not the fan moter . Pull refrigerator out and remove the small 10"X13" metal cover . Unplug refrig first . Then remove the blue plug with 3 wires attached to it . The wire sequence on the plug looks like this : wire 1,wire 2,space wire 3.
Use an insulated jumper wire with both ends stripped and insert one end into wire 2 and the other into wire 3 . Plug refrig back in and look in freezer at the bottom . If the heater and defrost thermostat are good , the a red glow should appear . No red glow , either bimetal or heater is bad . Most likely heater pt# WR51X10101 . Do not forget to reinstall the blue plug with refrig unplugged or could cause main board dammage .
