Try digi-key or newark. but if you want to do it the easy way, just jumper the + and the - from the other fan driver to the small fan leads so it drives both. it'll run fine.

Powering On
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector is having a hard time powering on or doesn't power on at all, it could be one of two things. Due to the extreme temperature of the lamp that causes the temperature of the projector to rise, every InFocus 4805 projector has a cooling system. Check your projector's cooling solution, as it may need to be replaced. Also check the projector's fan---if the fan doesn't spin, the unit will not turn on. If the problem is the fan, you'll have to get it replaced. You can do this at the same place you bought your projector.
  • The Lamp
  • If your InFocus 4805 Projector powers on but does not project any light, the lamp will need to be replaced. All projector lamps must be replaced at some point---how often usually depends on how much use the device gets. Simply order a replacement lamp, unscrew the old one and screw the new one in. The projector will then work like new.
  • Color Wheel
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector powers on and is displaying images but the colors on the images appear warped or are not in the proper places, your "color wheel" will need to be replaced. The color wheel is a small device that essentially acts like a prism. Light is projected through it and it displays the appropriate colors on screen the way they appear in the original video source. Order a replacement color wheel that fits your model and use your instruction manual as a guide as you swap the old one out and put the new one in.

Infocus 4805 has yellow line on the right side of the screen

It will be the light tunnel. Apparently it is very common in the 4805. See here for how to fix it, by the way you cant get parts so its a DIY job.

If this sound you are describing is NOT constant and is intermittent in nature it is certainly not a color wheel problem. This sound is usually caused by failure of the Lamp cooling fan (the large one)'s Mos-Fet driver chip. Located on the bottom of the main board. These surface mount "chips" do fail and it's a fairly common problem however this is usually (but not always) accompanied by the projector shutting itself down after a few minuets or so as the high temp switch trips off. A color wheel common failure presents in two ways, either all the glass color filters fly off (there are six) and the image is monochrome (black and white) or just one or more of the segments has come off and the result is an imbalance of the color wheel which spins VERY fast resulting in a vibration
that is constant and can easily be felt by placing your hand on the projector. And all of these problems are very easy to repair.

    Good Luck!

Fan wont turn on infocus x2, instead makes funny siren noise and attempts to turn. Small fan inside works fine, larger one cant but will turn if touched, so doesn't seem to be anything in the way of it.

This problem is almost never the actual fan itself failing..
The intermittent whine you hear is the result of the Mos-Fet fan driver chip which is the speed control current amplifier.
It's an 8 pin surface mount chip on the bottom of the main (lower) circuit board. This is a common failure with these projectors.
The chip is inexpensive and needs to be replaced by someone who is skilled in surface mount component technology. You can replace the fan but you will still have the same problem. Hint, the bad chip is not the one closest to the large fan connector... It's the one closest to the small fan connector and it will measure 45-60 ohm's between pins 7 and 8. the part (rns70d) is discontinued however there is a replacement that can be purchased at...

Infocus 4805 - Doesnot display and make noise at start-up

Well a single red blinking means the lamp won't strike after five (5) attempts. The "squeaking" sound if it's coming form the large fan usually always means the Mos-Fet fan speed controller chip has failed which presents sometimes as an intermittent squeaking sound. Which would implies the lamp may have failed from the resultant over temp. However if the squeaking noise is coming from the color wheel that would mean it's bearings have failed and if is is unable to phase lock at reference speed the lamp would also not strike. The odd symptom is the remote thing... That does not fit! If is actually is related to the common cause of all the problems... That leaves only the power supply has partially failed (not too expensive) causing all of these symptoms.

    Or murphy has moved in...

    Good luck!

    SP4805 Fan Issue

the fans in these models do not have a speed sensor wire to let the main board know to turn off the lamp to not risk overheating. so if the fan goes, the lamp remains on. however, if the lamp exploded, check the vents for dust. there is a temp sensor that will shut down the projector if it gets too hot. if the vents are clogged, blow the dust out of the projector with canned air. the dust keeps in the heat that the projector is trying to expell. easiest way to repair the fan w/o buying a part: splice the fan wires together. they can share voltage. if the 80mm fan does not work at all after that, replace the fan (pn: 526-0192-xx).

    Fan Replacement

If the fan spins freely the problem is most likely not the fan but the 8 pin smd Mos-Fet fan speed control current amp has failed. Not difficult to replace and are a common problem with these projectors.

    4805 infocus projector

it is the colorwheel bearings going slowly due to excessive dust and heat. remove the lamp and push in the switch actuator on the lamp door frame. turn the projector on and see the colorwheel spin in the lamp housing window. does the noise happen when the wheel spins and stops when the wheel stops? let the switch actuator go. does the noise stop? it's the colorwheel (pn: 525-0146-00). you can get it through an infocus service center. try av solutions in ny. www.avsolutionsny.com
