Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use ACDsee or any other photo cataloging program.

I'm looking for the driver for a pentax optio S5i and all I get are these damn free scans.

Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98:

MacOS 8.6:

More recent versions of the operating system should recognize the camera without a separate driver.

Bought a second hand Pentax Optio m20 with no software and would like to download pictures to my computer.using a windows xp pro operating system.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks John

When you hook the camera up to the usb port, windows should automatically detect it as a drive. Then you can transfer your pictures to a folder on your hard drive. Also, if you have a card reader, you can transfer pictures that way. You can order card readers on ebay or get them at Walmart or Radio Shack.
