Question about T-Mobile Dash Smartphone

Dash Phone turns off

My dash Phone after a good 10 months of having it, suddenly turns off out of no where, turns off when on a call, when there is no reception or when one of the battery bars gets exhausted. I have already recived a replacement dash phone and i was planing to buy a battery but reading through all these comments i am thinking twice to do so.


Please any advice will be well appreciated.

    My T-Mobile Dash also turns off.
    The battery life is fine however it just shuts down.

    I Also got a replacement and i still have the same problem.....i mean why doesn't tmobile discontinue this product it is disfunctional.......after 10 months is defective......I think all tmobile customers who have purchased the tmobile Dash phone should get an exchange for a different smartphone......

    Exactly the same issue. It might be 10 minutes or 2 hours after unplugging it, and it will just turn off. Turn it back on, the battery shows at 4 bars, then it just turns off again. Really irritating, not sure if I should get a new battery or just give up and buy a different phone. Oh, this phone is about 14 months old.

    I have the exact same problem and my warranty is over too... I ordered a new battery hopefully that will help... T mobile was no help in handling or resolving the issue. I have 3 friends with the phone that have the same issue.... when it is working i love the phone... I will try to remember to log in and let you know if the new battery helps

    I have mine for about 15 months and it just started doing it the other day. It's really not shutting down because the light blinks, but you can't do anything or receive calls. T-Mobile says it's the battery, but I'm not sure. My battery strength is full when it happens. T-Mobile also gave me the standard line about resetting the phone to the factory defaults.



    I also stopped get a ringtone on my reminders, another common problem.

    i also have the same problem, about 10 months after i got it. i just ordered another phone (under warranty) and if that doesn't help i will get a new battery. A WORD TO THOSE GETTING BATTERIES FOR CHEAP: make sure to purchase a battery with the exact same specifications as the one the phone came with. I ruined another phone by using an after market battery from eBay. it was 12 bucks and came with two chargers! NOT WORTH IT! the battery was kaput in 8months and the chargers were faulty! my phone was too, soon after the battery went again...

    I thought it was something with my settings. This started about a month ago. I have reset my phone with no success, I am still having the same issue too.

    I am also having the exact same problem...I have had my phone for not quite a year yet...I have exchanged my phone once and have only had the new phone for a little over a week and it is still doing the same thing...T-Mobile is sending me another phone and told me that if I have problems with the new one, they will send me a different model altogether...

    I bought a barely used Dash off of my friend which continually needed to be rebooted. Then after I broke that I got another used one (in worse shape) off of my friend. This one not only needed to update on a consistent basis it shuts off on me frequently even when it has a full charge. After reading this blog it looks like I'll try to use the battery from my old phone (as long as it's not too damaged) but if that doesn't work I don't think I'll be using the dash again. TMOBILE SUCKS

    Hi this is about my T-Mobile Dash it was perfectly working fine for almost a year but since this march 2008 and this is the 3rd replacement form t mobile and I have tried with the new battery before replacing the phone. but still it dosent matter. i have stopped asking for the replacement form T-Mobile because it dosent solve the problem, i have read some forums that it may be the battery problem, but i tried thaat too or is it possible i got an bad battery. the phone simply turns off when i am on the phone or even start the web than after 5-6 minutes i need to restart it or plug the charger in it. should i try with another battery or is there a solution for this. thanks in advance if some can help

    I'm having multiple problems with my dash. It has already been replaced for he alarm issue and now it just shuts off even when the battery appears to be fully charged. I spoke to Tmobile several times and their response to my defected phone is that they no longer replace them for the alarm issue and that I just buy a new battery. I have bought a new battery and the problem still exists where the phone just shuts off. Their response to that is that they will give me a discount on a new dash and I must renew my contract with them. Lovely - Tmobile sucks!

    Same problem of phone shutting off even after fully charging. I have also purchased a new battery and continue to have the same issue.

A whiz at my local T-Mobile store by the name of Noura took a look at my batter and noticed right away that something wasn't right... It is a little warped/bubbled up on the flat surfaces. You can tell if you lay the battery flat on a table and it wobbles when you touch it - like an unbalanced table or chair does when it is unbalanced. She said this is a sign that the battery has reached its maximum life and occurs when it has been over-charged.

Same problem for me. I found that if I hold it with my thumb over the screen and my fingers on the back, raise it above my head approx 18 inches, then forcefully thrust it over the edge of the building you are on whilst letting go at the same time, it shatters on the ground and you can feel good when you go buy a different phone (changing carriers and getting an iPhone offers the best results in this method)!

I have found, although against normal process, that if I unplug the battery every so often while the phone is ON that this doesn't happen nearly as often. I've also placed too tiny things behind the battery that pushes the battery into the contacts which creates a nice tight battery fit.

I say "things" because you can use whatever you see fit. Pardon the pun

I find that my phone may shut off once a week whereas it used to shut off about 10 times a day

The T-mobile Dash and the Wing are 2 piece of **** phones produce by T-mobile.I had a wind for about 6 months before it start freezing ,then suddenly 1 day the touch screen stop.i bought a Dash had that for 2 weeks before that stop powering on.I will never recomend them.

I noticed the battery warpage when the phone started power off/on.
i almost always have my phone on the charger, because if using wifi the battery is dead within 30 minutes. guess if this factory default doesnt work, i'll be buying a high mah battery and using this warped one for home use while on charger :/

i lost all my contacts when trying to back them up too, not happy about that

I tested aviao's solution and danged if he isn't right. The old battery wobbles when placed flat on a table. The new battery doesn't budge. And since I put in the new battery (24 hours ago) the phone hasn't shut down on me once. Thanks for the tip!!

    By George, I think I've got it! The simplest solution isn't alway the best. The new battery didn't work, so I finally resorted to T-Mobile's suggestion of a hard boot. It worked. It's been 4 days and the phone hasn't frozen once. I left it locked for over 18 hours, and it never froze up.



    For those who don't know how, turn off your phone. Then while you are pressing the power button, hold the "minus" buttons to the left and right of the center button (above the little house button and the left arrow button). You should see a screen message telling you to press another key (I forget which). Then, leave the phone alone until it's finished processing. It takes a few minutes. You'll think your phone has frozen, but it hasn't. If my instructions are poor, just call T-Mobile and they'll tell you how to reset the phone to the factory default. I was afraid I would lose my upgrade to Mobile 6.1, but I didn't. It was still there. Only my personal info and files were gone.

I bought a new battery and the problem is fixed. it just sucks that they put out thousands of bad batteries and a wont take responsibility. ebay has em cheap. 10$

Dash wont send texts to other services!!!


I had the exact same problem a week or so ago. Customer service simply had me take out my battery and leave it out for a few minutes and then put it back in and turn the phone on again. She said that what that does is refresh your phone to the network and it is a good thing to turn your phone on and off on occasion. It solved the problem for me...

My phone is frozen


Pop out the battery and sim and wait 10 seconds and put them back in..

here is 2 useful tips:

How to Hard Reset a T-Mobile Dash/ HTCS620:
1. Select Start
2. Select Accessories
3. Clear Storage
4. Type in 1234
5. Select Yes

How to Hard Reset a T-Mobile Dash and HTCS620 without the operating system:
Turn the handheld off, hold the two soft keys (the dashes to the left and right of the phone buttons) hold the power button for 1-2 seconds and then release the soft keys. It should prompt you to clear storage. The “send” button is considered as the green phone button.

T-MOBILE DASH WONT TURN ON!!!!


On page 30 of the manual a red light states "Solid red-battery is not installed or is over discharged. Flashing red-battery very low(less than 10%)
In other words if you get a solid red light either you put the battery in incorrectly or your battery is over discharged and is no good.

Hi april_tula,

A big black mark (often looks like an ink blotch) on a mostly white screen usually means that the screen was somehow damaged/broken. The Dash is a rather good device; however, it's been known to experience cracked (inner) screen issues on a slightly more frequent basis than other comparable mobile devices.

The company that I work for sees this issue a few times a month with the Dash, and unfortunately it's just a matter of replacing it at this point.

T-Mobile Dash half of the screen has white strips


i know its hard to belive but you may have cracked the screen by just bumping into something its a common problem with large screen phones i have tha same problem, you could buy a new ascreen on ebay have it installed or try to remember how to use it with out a screen, besides that if you dont have a protection plan on your phone youde have to buy a new one, and remember protections plans vary depending on the phone but are well worth it in case things do go wrong even if its not your fault

Tmobile dash won't read my sim card


Have you inserted the Sim correctly. The Sim goes in with the gold plated contact facing down and the cut corner of the sim on the bottom right corner showing when inserted.

In my experience when getting a phone wet your only choice is to let it sit. It could take a few days or a month but soon or later they usually fire back up.
