connected to wireless router with excellent signal may not means you are connected to internet. make sure your modem provided by internet service provider has signal! connect your computer to modem directly bypassing router. If you are online that means your internet is functional. Then connect modem to your Linksys router and use your wireless to log on to internet. Your router wireless signal active and excellent means you are connected to router not necessarily the internet. The modem supplied by your internet service provider with active internet should be connected to you router on WAN port! good luck!!
in that case i would first of all i would unplug the internet cord and then wait a minute and then plug it in and then try again and if that doesnt work try rescanning the internet connection
Choose a convenient
location to begin installing your router, such as an open floor space or
table. This does not need to be the permanent location of the
router. For wireless routers, it may be necessary to re-position the
unit after installing it as the signals may not reach all areas needed.
Unplug the power to your Internet modem.
Power down your computer(s).
Plug the power in to your router.
Connect your Internet modem to the router. The cable plugs into the router jack named "WAN" or "Internet". Turn on your Modem.
Connect one computer to
the router. Even if the router is a wireless model, connect this first
computer to the router via a network cable.
Turn on the computer.
From the computer
connected to the router, open your web browser. Enter the router's
address, http://192.168.2.1, and press Enter on your keyboard.
Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit.
To configure the router
to connect to the Internet, you must enter information provided by
your Internet Service Provider (ISP) into the "Connection Type" section
in the left-hand column under the "Internet WAN" heading of the router's
configuration page. If using DSL Internet, you may need to enter the
PPPoE username and password. Likewise, if you have been issued a static IP address by your provider, the static IP fields (including network mask and gateway) must also must be set in the router.
If this is a wireless
router, change the network name (referred to as SSID). While the router
comes to you with a network name set at the factory, you may want to use
something more familiar for your network. Read Changing the router's wireless channel and SSID for a description of this process.
Plug the power back into your Internet modem.
Verify that this
computer can connect to the Internet properly. Open a new web browser
and visit a few Internet sites such as Google.com or Yahoo.com.
Finally, configure additional network security features as desired to guard your systems against Internet attackers.

Firstly please check the connections. The modem should be connected to the "Internet" port on the back of the router. And the computer can be connected to any of the 4 ports of the router. Checked the lights. They should be steady. If you have a cable connection (cable modem) than you can connect directly to the internet. Else if you are using a DSL connection than you need to configure the router according.
**If this works please rate else let me know in case of further help.**
You will need to check the wireless settings of the router is there any computer connected to the router ? If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer. Router set up page is the page where you can check all the wireless settings of the router. Click here for step by step instructions
If you can access the configuration page of your belkin router you have to copy the MAC address of your computer to the router. The router has the capability to clone the MAC address. It's because if you have a cable internet connection the MAC address is registered in the server.
