Problem for Canon PIXMA MX700 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Software Installation Problem

I just bought a Dell XPS desktop. I bought the Canon MX700. I am trying to install the software but I keep getting a message that says "an error occurred while files were being copied". I can go no further in the installation problem. This is before I even plug in the USB cable per instructions from Canon

- I have the same problem and cannot install the MX700's drivers on Vista 32 bit. I have tried the software on disc, from the canon website and with the USB cable connected and disconnected. Every time I get the same error message: "an error occured while files were being copied"- markrbowles

I had this problem just a few minutes ago. The way to get through this is to plug in the USB cable *before* you begin the installation. When Windows detects a device and ask for drivers you need to click cancel for each device (printer, fax, scanner, etc) that it prompts for.

Run the installation disc or file as normal with the USB cable plugged in and it should work. It worked for me.
