Go into your "router" configuration under wireless, change the channel it operates on. It is possible some new electronic in your house or neighbor is causing signal interference on that channel causing you to drop your connection periodically.

My AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual-Core QL-64 by Gateway has wireless network problems. When on wireless, there are lag spikes (meaning it suddenly stops working) every five seconds for around one second each time...

"under the same modem" .. you mean connected to the same router?
if you are using an external USB modem, try a different cable -and keep it short. I can't think right now of any clear causes of this problem other than a bad USB (or too long) cable (which can cause exactly this problem).

possibilities.. could be a cordless phone, cellular, wireless mouse/headphones/controller, bluetooth .. many of these devices connect with their receiver regularly and use almost identical fequencies which interfere.

Doubt it is a network conflict -where someone else has the same IP address. You could try setting a manual IP address too..

good luck!

I have signal to my wireless router, but can't get internet

Go into Device Manager uninstall it then click scan for hardware changes. It should pick it up and reinstall it.
The router may have some corrupt info regarding your device in its routing table. Resetting it to defaults might fix it but of course you have to then set it up again.
A less painful way to make it think you have a different device is to change to MAC for your card. Go to the properites of your network connection , go to configure > advanced and in the list you should see network address or locally administered address. Just put in your MAC but change the last 2 digits to something else . The router will assume it is a new device , give it a new IP and hopefully let you surf. Good luck, let me know if you have any problems.

Trouble with wireless card

Something has gone wrong with your internet home connection--obviously nothing is the matter with your wireless connectivity hardware. You should reconfigure your home wireless connection. Follow the directions in Vista or XP help to set up a new home wireless connection. There are various ways to do this, such as through a router. If you have a home wireless router, be sure to set it for WEP incryption, or your neighbors will be able to get on your internet free.
