I can not think of any reason you should be trying to reset your BIOS. But if you have a good reason to do so, when you do the jumper you have to hit the power button. Then put the jumper back to original position and hit the power button again to turn the computer on.

You have to go into your BIOS to change your boot device order to your DVD/CD-ROM for it to boot off of your recovery disk though.

Emachines screen says no bootable device insert boot disk. I have no boot disk

This error indicates that the system is not able to find a boot-able device to load the Operating System. It could be something as simple as a disconnected hard drive, or it could even be a corrupt hard drive.

You can check if the hard disk is being detected in the BIOS. The key to enter BIOS in E-machines systems are Tab, Del or F2.

If the hard disk is being detected in the BIOS, it could be a faulty hard disk. You can try booting from the recovery partition by pressing Alt+F10 when starting up the computer. If you're able to get into the Recovery Partition, you can try a recovery, but you might lose all your data. If you're not even able to get into the Recovery Partition, you'll need to get the Windows disc for installing the Operating System again.

How can i reset the bios password for this laptop?

Key Disk for Toshiba laptopsSome Toshiba notebooks allow to bypass BIOS by inserting a "key-disk" in the floppy disk drive while booting. To create a Toshiba Keydisk, take a 720Kb or 1.44Mb floppy disk, format it (if it's not formatted yet), then use a hex editor such as Hex Workshop to change the first fwe bytes of the second sector (the one after the boot sector) and set them to 4B 45 59 00 00 (note that the first three bytes are the ASCII for "KEY" :) followed by two zeroes). Once you have created the key disk put it into the notebook's drive and turn it on, then push the reset button and when asked for password, press Enter. You will be asked to Set Password again. Press Y and Enter. You'll enter the BIOS configuration where you can set a new password..

Blank screen

Most likely a very nasty virus.
Download and burn to a disk a Linux Live-Cd like http://pclinuxos.com/  Then go into the BIOS and change the boot order - put the cd first. Now boot from the Linux disk and recover all your files. Next boot from your recovery disk and reinstall Windows.
And next time use a better antivirus.

My eMachines T3882 with Windows XP just reboots over and over

Sounds like a sick hard drive. When it starts to reboot, press F8 and choose Windows Diagnostic Test. It will show a hard drive failure if one exists. If it finds a hard drive error, the hard drive is junk and needs replacing. Once replaced, you can run your restore/recovery disk to install Windows back to the condition it was in when you bought it.

How do you reset a Toshiba Satellite L305D Power on Password?

To reset the password on this model, you need to:
  • Power off the computer, flip it over, and open the ram door
  • Find a small jumper to the left of memory module 0 (the one closest to the board).
  • Use a screwdriver to jump this pad while you turn the computer on
  • Continue jumping the pad until after the splash screen dissappears
  • If successfull the password prompt will go away. If not, try try again.
  • When successful, make haste to update your bios: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/cont...s/slb8v140.exe Toshiba's have a nasty habit of setting bios passwords on their own. I'm assuming thats why you're here.

Pc wont boot up after reformat.

After format your computer will not boot if don't have the Sys files on it. Try to put your hard drive back to your computer and start booting with some cd with hard drive utilities like http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

My pc was doing this but now it's doing something different but simular

Try telling it to boot the CD instead of the disk for now, since you need to install from that...or perhaps a newer OS.

Emachine boots to bios with a new hard drive installed

Go inside to your BIOS menu then set the BOOT sequence to CD as the first boot so when your PC with the operating system installation disk inside it will load the installation wizard.
Good luck hope that helps........
