Turn key off and removed. Power stays on radio ,heater.

Hello? It sems that the wiring is not done properly. Make sure that the radio wiring is done correctly. We have 3 wires that are very important when it comes to radio wiring. We have vcc,acc and ground. Vcc has to connect to battery direct, this helps keep radio memory on all the time. acc goes to acc and this switches radio on and off when you turn the key. Ground goes to earth. The wiring harness color code depends on different radio makes and car makes as well but a professional should help you with this.

IBR-WHCR2 wire harness extra yellow wire

The wire to which you refer applies power to the radio with the ignition switch in the ACC position and also maintains power flow to the memory when the radio is off. The proper connection should be apparaent from the installation instructions that came with your Metra adapter.

Which wires do I use for the acc/battery on Dodge Dakota for Radio

One wire stays hot all the time (yellow) and acc is only hot when the key is on. you should be able to find the wires in the original wire harness to the old radio with a test light or a meter.

Does anyone know which wire is the mute wire on a Toyota Rav 4 2003. Trying to fit a handsfree parrot into it. Thanks

I think there is no wire called mute wire. Mute can be applied only through the device.

Remove radio

Replace the CD player. To pull the plastic baffle off the dashboard: Adjust the heating vents so they point downwards. Grab the plastic bar between the heating vents and the stereo. Pull. Remove the screws from the front of the mounting brackets. Pull out the crappy stereo. Unplug the antenna and the wiring harnesses. Transfer the mounting brackets to your new stereo. Cut off the big wiring harness (unless you're lucky enough to have a replacement stereo that accepts the same kind). Connect the wires to the wires on your new stereo's harness. you can get something called a wiring harness from Walmart (or any place that sells car audio equipment). you plug it into the factory connection that would normally go to the back of the radio, and it has the wires labeled and color coded with what goes where. most times all you would need to do is match up the colors from the harness to the new radio you're trying to install. it makes it really easy to install after market radios, which im assuming you're trying to do.
