Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Try downloading all your pictures from the card to your computer and then reformatting the card. Alternatively, try another card. What happens then?

Yours is a CD recording type. Shouldn't you just load the CD from the camera to the computer? Then cut and paste to a folder on your computer. Or copy and paste. Ed

Why can I not see anything on my screen??

Two possibilities. 1. try this - look along the screen from the side. Can you see shadowy images? If yes, the back light has gone. If Nothing is seem then a connector possibly has come adrift. Try gently squeezing and tapping the camera near the base in the region on the screen- you may get it back in. There will be no repair option though if all else fails - new camera time.
