Panasonic Plasma "zoomed in"

My new 50" Panasonic plasma is "zoomed" in to the point where it is cutting off anything on the outer edges of the screen. The format function does not help. I'm using an HDMI cable. Any ideas how to "zoom" this out so I can see the out lying areas (scores/scroll bars on ESPN foor example)?

I had the same problem and found that I was viewing the TV input instead of the composite input. Once I changed it back, the aspect setting would hold.

SOURCE: i have only the cable and hdmi hook into my

Using your input key on the remote should switch you to the other modes. If you cannot access any HDMI or other input labels, go to your menu, and into the Input Labeling menu (under settings) and make sure you have all the inputs you require enabled. Its possible you (or an out of the box error) put these other inputs offline, which is why you aren't able to access your media from HDMI. If all inputs are enabled, and labeled, double check all the HDMI inputs on the unit. Plug what you are using with HDMI into each port, having the power on and sending information to the television. In some rare cases, I've seen that it doesn't allow access to the HDMI without it providing some source information.

Hope that helps.

Your TV resolution is not set to the proper screen size for viewing it properly and it probably cuts off your tv shows too and you just don't see it. Press the [FORMAT] or [ASPECT] button on the remote. The option available to remove the horizontal bars is Zoom.

Dear RyanVa21;
Try changing the picture size with your set's remote, press the aspect ratio button. The remote must be the original Panasonic remote.
Please let me know if that did it.

Thanks!
