Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-36HS500 36" TV

Making Trinitron HD-compatible

When I bought our Sony Trinitron KV36HS500 in 2002, I was told that it was HD-compatible and that I had to add a converter. With HDTV delivery being mandatory in 2009, this interests. Is what I've been told true? Where would I find/purchase such said converter?

thanks,

    MikeMaierTV:

Thanks for trying. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. It's an analog TV that is said to be HD-ready *if* I add some type of HD converter. Without adding the converter, I will be watching improved analog TV Feb. 2009 when HD delivery is mandatory. My question: where can I get the converter to upgrade the TV to HDTV? Is the converter the same as the device that the Federal government is offering rebates for? (Obviously, I could buy an new HD TV but this TV is only 5 years old and still delivering quality video.) I checked the Sony site, and the company doesn't recognize the Trinitron line. Hope this clears any confusion.

    thanks,

Every one seems to have a problem understanding what real will happen in Feb 2009 First if you already watch TV from a cable provider you WILL NOT have a problem, Now if you have a set that picks up a signal over the air (rabbit ears or antenna) then you will be affected and will need a converter. Check www.dtvtransition.org for more details. And Finlay if you watch from a satalight receiver you will be fine

Is a Sony Trinitron TV bought in 2002 HD ready?

No. But you can use either the Component or the S-Video inputs which will provide you with an excellent crystal clear picture!

My Trinitron Model KV-32FS210--Is it HD rated? The installer for Comcast told us that our TV had HD. Can you verify this?

According to the website, the KV-32FS210 is a SDTV (Standard Definition Television). This means it is in standard definition, not high definition (HD). I don't know why your Comcast installer told you that it had HD, but according to my sources, he was wrong. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, and I hope everything works out. Good luck! Sincerely, Der Strom

Is the sony trinitron 23 inch tv hd ready

You will need a model number before anyone can even do any research.
In general, there were never many CRT (picture tube) TVs made with the required ATSC tuner and if your set is 5+ years old, it isn't compatible with digital reception.

Are they HD compatible? We recently upgraded our cable on our 32 inch Sony Trinitron Wega tv (bought it in 2004) and got the dvr/HD package but get no HD channels...help??

These units are not HD sets. So if you want HD sorry to say you will need a different TV. If you can live without the HD these TVs have a great picture thats as close to HD as a regular set gets.
