My windows could not play mpeg 4 or mp4 format..does a k lite codec could help?

You may want to install the codec pack from the link below, to ensure you have all the codecs required to run all video formats.

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm

If this still doesn't help, you may need to reinstall your Windows Media Player (or other media software), and then apply the codec pack again.

I can't watch any videos

It is not clear if you are trying to watch video online or videos available on the system.
If the issue is with watching them online then supporting drivers must be missing and for this you need to download at least two softwares named 1. flash player 2. shockwave player.
Link to download is as below:-
http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/latest/Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe

If this is the issue with playing already available videos on the system then you may consider installing a good video player like VLC player.
consider downloading from below link.

Hi,
Please download VLC player on your PC. This will play almost any video file you have so you need not worry about codecs. Download link :

Cannot watch videos using windows media player and Haihaisoft

Download XVID codec from here:

http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

once you have installed this codec you will be ableto watch all of your videos again, the reason you cant is the codecs does'nt come with windows media, or the player you have been using, the computer probably had the codecs installed before it crahed and therefore after the reinstall they where lost, hope this helps.

How come I can't play a video with AVCHD format on my laptop? My laptop is an HP Pavillion DV7

Each of the AVCHD camcorders ships with software designed to playback the files on your computer. Sony's HDR-SR1 and the newer HDR-SR5 both record video in the AVCHD format and ship with the Picture Motion Browser, which plays back AVCHD files on most computers. If you purchased one of the Panasonic AVCHD camcorders, the included HD Writer should allow you to playback video recorded with your camcorder.

While the bundled applications work, my personal preference, is Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra, which supports playback of the AVCHD files and a whole host of other high definition formats. In addition to playing back your HD camcorder files, PowerDVD Ultra plays back Blu-ray and HD-DVD disks (with the accompanying drives connected, of course). PowerDVD Ultra also makes it possible to expand your HD video editing options, by using the included codecs to render the AVCHD video in apps like VirtualDub.

Cyberlink PowerDVD ultra can be downloaded from here :

Download VLC player from the above link and play your clip with this which one not giving you sound. If its working with VLC and your problem solved then download Divx, and Xvid codec from

www.divx.com/en/divx

and install them Now your video will play the sound
Njoy.

I hope this will help you. Please vote for me.

Cannot watch video on Acer 5100

Hi there
There are a few applications that you need to have installed on the PC for you to watch videos on line or from hdd.

first you will need adobe flash 10, download it and install it from here:

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

also download and install java from here:

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Now thats the on-line software done, now you need "codecs", download and install these to allow you to watch the latest DIVX, XVID video files etc

http://www.xpcodecpack.com/download

and codec 8.3 here:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Codec-Packs-Video-Codecs/Codec.shtml

Install all of the above and restart your pc, then try to watch your media on the net and in a media player, the problem should now be resolved.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

Xvid to dvd?

you will need something like "Vso DivXToDVD 0.5.2 software" tp convert from your current format to one which your "standard" DVD player will read.
