Volume can't be controlled. Always loud. Does it need a new volume chip or something. Can that be bought as a part?

Volume only goes to 50%

If the volume control is a potentiometer then you can replace the pot. If it is a button type then the electronic circuitry (chip) associated with it is in need of repair.

Repair will not be cheap - can you live with the 50%?

How do i reset the v-chip password on my tv

Hi, try this:-
1/ VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the ZERO key on the REMOTE control.
OR
2/ VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the FOUR key on the REMOTE until the message “Initialize5 Complete” appears on the TV screen.

I can't guarantee that this will work , but give it a go and let me know.

Resetting the v-chip password so i can remove it and watch all that i want

I had the same problem. Here's what Toshiba emailed to me:

  1. Disconnect the AC power for at least one minute to reset the clock.
  2. Adjust the volume to the minimum using the Volume down button on the front of the unit.
  3. Press and hold the Volume down button on the front of the unit and the 0 button on the remote control at the same time, holding them down for at least 10 seconds.
  4. The user menu will appear with the V-Chip cursor blinking.
  5. Press the ENTER key on the remote control and the NEW PASSWORD menu will appear.
  6. Enter your new password.
Hope that helps!!

Toshiba Child lock

You might want to try the same solution for the V-Chip (this might be the same thing as the child lock, it is worth a try) protection to see if this will help:

Changing V-Chip Settings for MV13L3, TV/VCR Combo 2001.

-Unplug your tv for 1 minute.
-Plug your tv in and turn it on.
-hold the volume down button on the tv at the same time you hold the "0" button down on the remote. This will bring up the "Set V-Chip" blue screen.
-Enter "0000" for the password and hit enter. Enter "0000" to confirm the password and hit enter.
-This will bring up the V-Chip set page. From this page you can: Turn Off the V-Chip, Change the Limits for viewing, etc.
-If you turn off the V-Chip setting, you will not have to deal with this problem again.

Parental control

1. Go to the V-chip selection in the customer menu.
2. If the set has an active PIN code, the menu will display “BLOCK-ING ACTIVE”.
3. Press RECALL on the remote four times within five seconds.
4. The menu should then display “BLOCKING RESET”.
5. Input a new four-digit PIN code and press ENTER.
6. The next menu page will appear which allows you to scroll down to the various lock selections. If you want to remove the PIN code completely, instead of entering a new code, just exit the menu after pressing recall four times.
1. Disconnect AC power for several seconds to reset unit clock.
2. Adjust unit volume to minimum.
3. Press and hold volume down button on unit control panel.
4. While holding the volume down button, press and hold the “Zero” key on the unit remote.
5. The user menu will appear with the V-Chip cursor blinking.
6. Pressing the “Enter” key on the unit remote will open the “New Password” menu.

Have a great day!!

Sound form Bush TV

It could be several problems, I'll share with u a couple. All of them need a tech.[technician]
Your volume control works by adjusting the voltage\current to the speakers. The VOLUME CONTROL could be damaged\fixed at a point [even if you are raising\lowering] at high volume.Sometime the control has a crack ********\********* in such a way that the volume arm won't go past crack[see above] on HIGH volume.
The audio IC could be shorted in high volume. Sometimes the audio IC is PART of a 64 (sixty-four) pin ckt. How do u test for that if u are not a techo'
Let someone take a peek at it.
