Hello,

You can ask your internet provider's support group to send you a technician to assist you in accessing your modem. They will never give you the admin rights to setup your modem. Just be honest and they will be good enough to give you the access rights to your modem.

Hope this helps.

What kind of wifi remote/wireless do I need for a Samsung galaxy tablet?

If you have a combination modem/wireless router you should be able to connect your tablet to the internet. If not, you will need to either buy a wireless router that connects to your modem to broadcast the wireless signal or contact your service provider and get the combination modem/wireless router.

Dear Sir, There is no provision of fixing my laptop to a wireless router. Can anybody advise how to convert this "laptop" to enable getting wireless connection of internet?

To connect to the Internet you need a few extra things aswell as a network or wireless card and install the LAN or wireless driver.
1. You need to sign up with an Internet service provider.
2. Connect a LAN cable from your computer to the DSL or cable modem
3. You need a DSL or cable modem and connect and configure the modem to inaccordance with your Internet service provider's instructions.
4. Install Internet Explorer if it has not been done.
5. If everything has been done correctly, when you open Internet Explorer youcan access the Internet. If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to yourwireless router, the router needs its wireless settings to be configuredwith the SSID, encryption key etc., also the wireless cards in all thelaptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

I HAAAAAVE A AT@T WESTELL MODEN BUT MY COMPUTER IS NOT WIRELESS BUT I HAVE WIFI ON MY ACCOUNT. I AM THINKING ABOUT GETTING A SYLVANIA NETBOOK WHICH IS WIRELESS. WILL IT WORK IN MY HOME . THANK YOU

Let me clear up a little confusion. You don't have wi-fi on your account, you have Internet access. Wi-fi is not something that you subscribe to or purchase separately. Wi-fi (wireless) access is provided by a router that allows the Internet connection you pay for to be shared by several computers. The typical router has both wired connections (usually 4 of them) for computers that don't have wireless capability, and acts as the access point for your wireless network.

Your modem is the device that connects you to the Internet through your service provider (ISP). Most ISPs are supplying a combination modem/router for their customers since so many people want wireless access in their homes. If you have one of these, you actually have wireless capability already. But your modem might be an older type, supplying a single wired connection for one computer only. You didn't give the model number of your Westell modem so I can't tell you what you have, but you can tell by looking at it.

A single-connection DSL modem will have only two ports. One is the connection to the DSL phone line, and is a standard-size phone jack labeled "DSL". The other is the network cable connection to your computer, usually labeled "COMPUTER", "LAN" (short for Local Area Network), or "ETHERNET" which is the type of cable used. If this describes your modem, you will need to provide your own wireless router to make your new wireless netbook work.

On the other hand, a combination modem/router will have the DSL connection jack and 4 connectors for computers. It may also have an antenna for the wireless function, but some newer models have internal antennas. If you have one of these, you already have wi-fi capability. You will probably need to set up your network so that your netbook can use it.

There is plenty of information available about how to install a wireless router if you don't have one already. In fact, almost every one now comes with an installation CD that will guide you through all the steps. They aren't expensive and are for sale almost everywhere that sells electronics (office places, Radio Shack, retailers like Wal-Mart, etc.). If you already have the combination device, you can call your ISP customer service for help in setting up your network, or find the information on their website.

So yes, the Sylvania netbook will work in your home, although you may need to do a little work first. But it's really pretty simple, and you'll have that computer online without wires in no time.

Hello I have a netgear wireless router WGR614 V5 which is connected to a cable modem and since several weeks I have many unexpected and random disconnection. So I must turn off my wireless router and...

HELLO,
Why are you using two routers, these might be conflicting with each other? Somtimes the drivers need updating.Try this first, and if this fails, disconnect the cable modem and just connect the wireless router to the main phone line socket via a modem filter and connecting a wireless adapter to your pc and install the driver for this adapter. The signal from the phone socket connection to the wireless router situated close to the main phone socket. Then connect the adapter to the usb port on your PC,and let the driver software and PC do the rest. That's all I've got on my PC.

Installing belkin wireless router

1. First, Begin by resetting your modem, the reset button can be found on the back of the modem, underneath the power button.

2. Once the modem is reset, do this for your router, and when you are finished connect the cable from your Modem into the "internet" or "modem" port on the back of your router.

3. Now run a cable from port number 1 on your router, to the back of your originial computer. Give this a moment to sync.

4. Now open your web browser and type in 192.168.2.1 and hit enter, it should prompt you for a username and password, enter "admin" in the username, and leave the password blank. You will now see the router's status page.

5. Now configure the Router according to your ISP setting.

Did you buy it brand new?

before pluggin in the router make sure you turn off your computers and also power down the cable modem.

Then, turn all items with a minute delay from each other, in this order:

Cable Modem --> D-Link --> Computers.

Usually if it's a single port cable modem, it will lock a MAC Address (device master identification) and therefore when you try to connect something else, your Cable Modem is still looking for other device.
