Question about Konica Minolta magicolor 2430 DL Laser Printer

3 Answers

Just installed printer and drivers via a network connection for Vista 32bit. I did this per the instructions Provided by Konica at Now my computer "sees" the printer but I can't print a anything. When I try to print a document Printer status shows "printing" for a few minutes; then changes to "Error - Printing" but no error codes or other useful information is displayed. May be an IP address problem? When I set the printer up I entered the IP address as instructed in the Konica documentation. However when I printed the Printer Configuration Sheet (I did this from the control menu on the printer itself) it shows the IP of the printer to be something differents. Any ideas?

The printer is connected to a four port Netgear router. I tried changing the printer's IP Address from the one given in the installation instruction to the one the printer's configuration sheet said was the IP of the printer.

This did not fix the problem.

Note: The configuration sheet also listed a subnet mask, a MAC Address, and other stuff that I don't have a clue what they are and are not changeable parameters in printer setup.

I don't know what to do with the instructions you provide "The first 3 octet of the Printer should be the same as the router's. So
the setup should be router->printer then router->computer. Can you give me a more detailed example?

I used the Add Printer Wizard as directed in Konica's km_vista_instruct.pdf document referenced in the original email.

Subsequent to my first email I tried changing the IP address from to the IP given on the Printer Configuration Sheet which I printed from the printer itself. This did not sovle the problem.

Chances are that the port in the printer's properties is addressed to the wrong IP address. Go to Printers & Faxes. Right-click on that Konica-Minolta printer. Select Properties, & then select the Ports tab. Either add a new Standard TCP/IP port with the correct IP address as a Minolta Network Printer (Not as a Generic Network Card) or edit the port that is in use to reflect the proper IP Address.

Dear if your printer is directly connected to router your provided IP address is wrong.

    Please do the following.
First of all go to Start Menu in your PC. Select Run> Type CMD. Now type ipconfig, check what is default gateway address, It's may be192.168.x.x [.x.x stands for unknown numeric digits, which varied by router e.g. in DLink it's or in Simens it's] Default Gateway Address means the IP Address to access the Routers Configuration Page and it is the physical/permanent address for router. So for all other connections to the router will start after this number[e.g. or etc] which are limited upto 150 IP's/connections.

If the printer is directly connected to router, Open the router configuration page. Check in DHCP Clients....What is your Printer IP is showing....Try to access the printer with that IP. Set it as permanent IP for that printer. Now follow as you found on Km_vista_Instruct manual. But in place of type in 192.168.x.x whatever IP you set for printer. and subnet mask will be follow the rest of manual.I think you got my answer.

If the Printer is directly connected to the PC. simply install the printer driver by Found New Hardware Wizard [If pop-ups] or Run the driver CD only and Install the driver. It will work surely without any issue.

Again if the Printer connected to a PC , And you want to use it on another PC without Plug In/Out, Just go to the PC where the printer is connected. Open the folder Printers & Faxes > right click on the Printer name that you want to share/use on another PC> Just select the option Sharing and click Share the printer also put a sharing name so that you can find the printer easily on network.
Remember in Vista First you may require to Printer Sharing:On in Network setting [Go to Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center > check in Sharing and Discovery > Put the Printer Sharing:On] Save all the setting in the PC that you connected with printer.

Now go to the client PC . Open Printers , click on Add a printer >choose 2nd option Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer. Then there will be a list showing the name of printers. If your shared printer name is there select it from the list> Click Next > Click Finish. Again if the printer is not in the list click on The printer that I want isn't listed > choose 2nd option and type in the IP address of that PC where the printer is connected directly[e.g. \\\Konica_minolta\ or e.g. \\192.168.x.x.\printer's sharing name\] Click Next if your sharing name is correct with IP. you are done.

The one Konica Minolta instructed is for print server type.

Let me know please if you want that also.

I presume that the IP Address in the instruction is just an example IP Address. I don't know if your printer is connected to a router or to a Hub or Switch, but your printer's IP Address should depend on the device that provides the IP Address and the example is router. The first 3 octet of the Printer should be the same as the router's. So the setup should be router->printer then router->computer.

Printer Sharing for 32os and 64os

I am not sure I follow. If you are attempting to share a printer over a home network between computers with different OSes, perhaps you could try this:

If the printer works already with Win7(32bit), go to the Vista computer and try the following:

Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer. Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next.

A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computer name\printer name

Make sure the printer has been connected locally first and that the print drivers have been installed. This should then allow you to add the printer via the set up.

Install lexmark x4650 with provided CD,it wont print or connect w

Make sure the software you are trying to use is Vista compliant and even more so that you are not using a 64bit version of vista because a 32bit application will have issues running in that environment.

Installing AR-Sharp 5316E on Vista OS

According to sharp information the 5316e is not supported by Vista, the 5316n version is ( N for networking). They would require different drivers because they are different in the way they print. However, here is a link for a vista driver for the "E" version. This is for 32bit vista and not 64bit.
You are more than likely going to be connecting to the copier with a USB cable. Install the software first and plug in the USB cable.
Hope this helps.

Probably the best and easiest solution for your problem would be to buy an EDIMAX USB-Ethernet print server, or something equivalent. I have several of these running on the network at work. They're easy to setup and they work great.
