Motherboard dillema. Particular mb problem. Reqires drivers installed first before recognizing board in agp slot. ATI requires board recognized before installing drivers and catalyst. Asrock board, older model. I just put a pny of same specs in and it works fine, Used the ATI in a dfi board and it is working fine now.

    Thanks for all the info.

Hi, Im guessing that your motherboard has an intergrated video card & you installed the 9600 card into the opened AGP slot on the board. If you would have listed the model number of your motherboard I would't have to guess. What you need to do is enter your bios & make a change so your bios loads the AGP slot & not the intergrated video card. How to get into your bios? As soon as you turn on the Pc press the Delete key every two seconds. If your system fails to load the bios than you will need to try some of the others F keys. Let the PC finish loading. Re-start the PC. As it starts up try the F1 key every two seconds. Continue in this manner using these other F keys untill your system boots into the bios. F2, F10 or F12. One will work for you. Once in the bios use your manual if you have one. You are looking for Video display. You want the bios to load the AGP slot first, this will disable the intergrated video automatically. Your Pc will now see your 9600 video card & you will be able to load it's software. If the 9600 uses ATI's software you should update the Radeon software by going to ATI/AMD & update your video software with the latest drivers. Click the link I have posted below to upgrade your Radeon 9600XT card. Good idea to save the link.

Hey there New dummy, I suggest you go to the BIOS setup, and check the status of the AGP slot to ensure it is enabled, and also to set the graphics to AGP slot and not the onboard video. This should allow the computer to recognise the AGP card and therefore allow you to install drivers for it. Once enabled the screen may appear jumpey at first, but that will clear when you install the drivers. Good Luck and let me know if it helps. Good Luck!

After changins os from Linux SUSE to windows 7 Ulti. Now i m not geting driver for ATI graphic & monitor. I installed all the online letest drivers & bios also but not usefull Pl help to get...

Usually Windows 7 find all the drivers. Usually Windows 7 will install a generic driver if it is a older graphics card. If it is an older card you can go to the ATI site and use a Vista driver for that card which I have done in the past for my Ati AIW 9600. You may have to search there legacy drivers for your particular products.

I install Windows 7 on my computer and I get 8 bits of video that I have had xp and when that had 96Mb

Hi, what has happened is when you installed the Win 7, it hasn't recognized your Video card, what you need to do, is obtain a driver that is suitable for Win 7. You need to go to the manufacturers website of you Video card,or PC, and find the driver and download and install. If it is an ATI card go to the ATI website and download the latest driver for your video card, if NVIDIA then the same applies here, BOTH of those sites would have a suitable driver, IF the card is supported under Win 7.
Many Video cards are NOT suitable NOR supported, in this case you either have to use the "Generic" drivers Win 7 supplies, or change you Video card if possible.
I have a feeling that your PC will NOT be suitable for Win 7. However I include the link for your drivers. Please go to this website below and download your Video Drivers and see how you go.

Screen going blank for a second or two while video freezes then jumps.

If you have on board graphics try removing video card and reboot when computer rebooted turn it of and refit card and restart when restarted computer should recognize new hard ware and should find the already installed drivers if not try installing drivers again
Sometimes windows does not recognize new hardware until its refitted
had this problem with modems alot and the above method solved it
