Thank you for your prompt and thoughtful response. I had the same thought, but when checking in the battery compartment (2 AA batteries), there is absolutely no evidence of any screws. I can not figure out how to get to the circuit board.

Check for and remove any screw(s) in the battery compartment. Then try gently prying the two sections apart. When seperated remember where the rubber buttons (buttons are usually one single, rubber like, pad) were seated (most the buttons will only fit one way, or you will remember where they were located just by looking at it). on the remaining cicuitboard in the other half of the casing, you will see numurous black dots, these are what the rubber buttons push to make the connection that will execute the command you are trying to give your tv. With a q-tip, slightly moist (no cleaning agents!), gently brush these black dots a few times. Gently rinse the rubber (buttons) pad under luke warm water ( no cleaning agents!) taking detail to the underside. A slight cleaning will be plenty to improve the functioning of the remote. Make sure to let the parts COMPLETELY DRY before installing them back in the remote!

If this helped you (or not ), please rate, thank you!

You have to press the buttons extremely hard

This is due to poor contacts inside the remote, if the remote is old then the contact pads may be worn, if it is fairly new then you may of wasted something on the remote and the contacts needs cleaning.. If you open the remote and remove the main board and the keypad clean the tracings on the remote with some achohol also the keypad also..

My remote control is a model CT-90233. Several of

your remote is old and needs to be cleaned and rebuttoned(you can do this yourself) open up the battery panel and look for small screws to take of the case. you need to dust it out with compressed air. and reline the buttons. when you push down on the power button it probbaly is not making complete contact with the button, take a small thing and poke the power button without the buttons on. see if that works. if it turns on right away with direct pressure to the power switch then you just need to make sure your buttons are making complete contact. if that dont work then your circuit is screwed. you need a new remote or a new tv.
