Question about NEC - 42" Commercial Plasma Screen ****(no TV Tuner) Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

42" cracked screen

I just bought an insignia 42" HDTV. I bought it two days ago and as I was bringing it in I dropped it and the screen broke from the inside. The sound works but the picture does not. Is this repairable. I am sure if it is it is gonna cost me but it would be a shame to have to get rid of a tv I have not even used yet!

If you have household insurance for damaged goods, this would be a good time to make a claim.

If there is no damage to the plastics around the TV, then who knows, it may have been cracked in the box *wink* *wink* after all, accidents happen in the factory too. ;0) I never said that though.

Hi, I just bought a used Infocus in72 projector via eBay and when I did a test run on it today: the screen has a flickering band of white (about 1/8 of the screen width) running vertically down the screen....

The best that you can look out for is to look for GROUNDING problems, loose connectors or faulty cables.
Start by checking out all cables . connectors and see if the power supply ground is well fitted to the chassis. The video or the PC connectors also must be well grounded to the main board , Look for some crack or dry solderr joints in these connectors that could bring these picture noise lines.
Howeverr if you are not able to see or get across these simple problems, i would liike to advice you to try for a exchange which will save you a great deal. Be careful not to damage the WARRANTY SEALS as the dealer may not be helpful.
I hope my advice helps you to decide. Good day

The screen behind the glass looks like its cracked on my samsung plasma nd i cant see most of the screen.what is the problem?how much would it cost to fix?

The plasma screen is pretty much ruined and will need to be replaced. You might as well buy a new screen. The parts typically run as much as a new set. You can have it repaired using a TV Repair guy but often it costs as much as a brand new TV. My daughter broke my $1,600 LCD. It would have cost $1,200 to fix.. so I just bought a new one. After that I picked up a TV screen protector called TV Armor http://www.tv-armor.com Its designed to protect the TV from damage. Now I dont have to worry anymore when she is playing near it. It works really well.

Cracked plasma screen

A plasma display is a very expensive part to replace. When the plasma display is broken, the tv is usually not worth repair.

Call Nec at the number listed on the owner manual, and ask a quote on part or repair.

Regards.

Cracked 42" NEC Plasma,

The display panel is the majority of the cost of a plasma set, and the cost of installing a new panel makes repair uneconomical. If this set is being used in a commercial environment, maybe you have some kind of insurance that might cover replacement.

Cracked Plasma

For the cost of the replacement screen, it's a better option to replace the unit I'm affraid.

The only time you would consider repairing this would be if it were a part of say a video wall and needed to match the rest of the units.

My cd cracked for the projector acer pd100 series

Hi there

Very simple - go back to the dealer you bought this from and tell them the CD was damaged when you opened the box. They will give you a new one on the spot.

Cracked plasma tv screen

I had one broken a few months ago. I got a couple quotes.. it was about $200 less then a brand new one. I'd just buy a new one.

For the new TV I'd pickup a screen protector for it. My son threw a toy at my TV the other day and I nearly had a heart attack from the flashbacks. Thank God I picked up one of these a few weeks earlier. It stopped it. http://www.tv-armor.com
