Question about Bogen Communication Bogen Manfrotto 3030G Pan/Tilt Head with Quick Release Plate (green) Tripod

1 Answer

3030G pan tilt head

How do you manage the quick release plate?
There is a very small brass arm which is either one of two positions. Where is the arm supposed to be to really "lock" the quick release plate in tightly?

Is there any way to download a user's manual for this head - I just got a used one, no product info with it however.

Thanks!

The little brass arm is supposed to be a safety switch. In one position the release lever bumps into the brass are and will not turn so the quick release willnot come off. In the other position the brass arm is away from the lever so it swings freely and the quick release plate will come off. With the brass arm open the quick release lever shoulde lock open until you push the quick releae in place. If none of this seem to work on your head, you may be missing parts. Hi I'm looking for a quick release lever and plate for my cullmann alpha 2500 tripod Part NumberCU 52125.I've been looking for it for months. Please of anyone can help me.I'll really appreciate it!!

You could try your local friendly camera store, but I expect you've already thought of that. You may be lucky on Ebay, but failing that you may need to purchase a complete new pan and tilt head. On most tripods they attach with a 1/4" screw, so they are fairly universal. There are a few listed here :

How can I fix the jerky motion of the 804RC2? What kind of lubricant can I use on the head?

Parts and a diagram can be found here: http://www.manfrottotripodparts.com/head804rc2-3.html

Silicon grease in very small quantities is the best lube to use. DO NOT use oil or liquid lubes like WD-40. These will flow and make the head messy and may "wash" the other lubes away.

I have a Samsonite tripod with a quick release plate. Is it possible to get another head? one that has a screw so that cameras can be threaded onto it?

Try www.TripodQuickRelease.com for that part. There is listed the widest selection of quick releases and support more brands than any other web site I've seen. Because your tripod is not supported by the manufacturer; parts lists and pars are not available, you should measure the opening and see what other brand quick releases will work paying attention to the shape and locking mechanism. Otherwise just get another tripod.

The Pan Tilt Head cannot be removed from my Manfrotto CXPRO3

Extend the center column, there are 3 screws underneath that when unscrewed will allow the head to be tightened or loosened. The head is screwed on about 4 or 5 revolutions. You will need a flat head screwdriver. Take the center column out if you need to to be able to get to the screws.

The plate is stuck on the head of my 804rc2, maybe in backwards?

Yes, it would be really hard to put on and equally hard to get off. Make sure the safety lock is release and a flat blade screwdriver should pop off the plate once the primary lock is released.

I have a Manfrotto 058 tripod. One leg wont hold weight & retracts under load. This model uses a quick release lever at the top of the leg to control the telescopic height of each leg. How can I repair...

If you notice, the legs locks are attached to bothe the upper part of the leg and the sloghtly smaller diameter lower. Take a socket (8mm I believe) and tighten the lower 2 nuts to the bottom of the leg lock.

Quick release plate will not unlatach on monfrotto 488rc4

There should be a small brass lever that is a safety lock. You cannot unlock the main lever without unlocking the small brass safety.
