If it's fairly old the ice mold may be flaking off the non stick surface. You may can order a new ice mold if you get your model number.

SOURCE: The plastic "rake like" white

The part that came off is the one that pushes the cubes out. Each end is round and fits into two holes in the ice mold. Since yours came out it may have broken on one end or the the hole it fits in could have cracked. If it's not broken you should be able to slightly bend it to put it back. Here is a diagram showing where it goes. Part 11.

First, is the auger drive operating when you press the dispenser lever? Is the ice frozen into a clump in the bin and isn't breaking loose into smaller pieces capable of dispensing? Is there frost around the ice dispensing chute (just above your glass) or inside the ice bin (near the very front) indicating an air leak? Is the bin installed properly so the bin auger drive is connecting to the bin auger?

Knowing these answers will point you in the right direction to solve the problem.

Manitowoc Ice machine only makes 2/3 bin of Ice and shuts off

The unit shuts off based on the magnetic reed switch in the plastic curtain on the front of the evaporator. If the ice is not falling as one single sheet with about 1/4"-3/8" of a bridge conecting all of the cubes then the ice is too thin. When the ice falls (in a single sheet of ice) if there is enough ice in the bin to hold that ice up and keep the curtain open the unit shuts down. A full bin may only be what appears to be 2/3 or 3/4 of a bin full because the ice sheet is propped up behind the curtain. If the ice sheet is too thin and does not fall as a single sheet more often than not a single cube or a piece of a cube can get caught between the curtain and the evaporator plate. This can shut the unit down for several hours until that piece melts and the curtain closes again.

I only get crushed ice even when the button is on

Pull the ice bin out and you'll see a rectangular hole with a plastic piece that has a rectangular hole in it. This piece will correspond to a steel rod that runs along the bottom of the ice bin. This steel rod actuates the crush/cube option in the dispenser. Sometimes icing can cause the plastic piece to get stuck. Try "jiggling" the plastic piece up and down until it frees and operates easily. Then replace your ice bin and try operating the controls on the dispenser again.

Ice maker chute becomes jammed with snow and cubes are being crushed even if the cube option is selected

You need to remove the ice bin , remove ( save ) the ice , and defrost the bin opening with hot water . It sounds like a piece of ice got caught behind the bin flap , keeping the flap from opening fully , so cubes will go thru . When cubes cannot go thru , the crusher will crush anything that tries . Now this is the ice container only .

Button set on cube - only sends out crushed ice

No , the panel is probably ok .
1 ) remove the ice bin
2 ) in the back of the freezer , you'll see a square hole , with a white rectangle piece inside , which you should be able to lift upward , with your finger . If this piece doesn't lift , then it may be corroded with rust , or be bad . When you call for cubes , this piece lifts up and in the process , lifts the long rod , attached to the ice bin . When the rod lifts , it opens the bin flap , allowing cubes to be dispensed . If it does not lift , the cubes will be ground against the cutters , therefore , dispensing crushed ice .
3 ) to access this solenoid which lifts the cube actuator , remove the 3 or 4 screws on the sides of the PANEL , and with the panel removed , you will have access to the solenoid and actuator .
4 ) you can check the solenoid for continuity , voltage ( when arm pressed for cubes) , or possibly a loose wire .

Ice doesn't come out into glass. Makes some ice but is larger pieces stuck together or flat pieces in bottom of container. Green light in back of container is on. I set the freezer to colder temp but...

You are not using enough ice.
You may need to dump the bin every week or so and keep fresh ice in the bin.
When you go through several defrost cycles the ice tends to eventually melt and stick together.

Crushed ice only

pull out your ice bin.  in the back of the bin you will see a rod protruding from one side.  That rod goes into an opening in the rear of the freezer. the plastic piece in that opening raises and lowers the arm on the ice bin giving you crushed or cubed ice.  check to see if that plastic piece is froze up or if your rod got stuck on top of it.
