I believe I just got a virus on my computer. its an HP comp

I believe I just got a virus on my computer. Dont believe the product i put in is the correct one not sure if it really matters in this case. It's affecting my monitor display. i believe it's a virus because i plugged in a different monitor and had the same results. I have Norton 360 anti virus software and also anti malware bytes(sp). Its hard to explain hows its effecting my display. but its dark and really blurry with lines every where cant really read the screen. The resolution is also changed and cannot read anything to turn it back! ive tried running norton and malware in safe mode and everything but screen is so blurry and messed up i cannot read the results or click anything right! I had the monitor off for a while and my wife said it worked for her when she was getting on facebook but maybe she was mistaken?I tried running norton and malware but it hasnt helped! any ideas what this virus is called or how to remove it or anything would be greatly appreciated!

    Going to take it all apart tonight and put it all back together, maybe some of the wires got crinkled up. everything on the computer is stock, and i got it back in 07. not really that long ago but ill take it all apart and put it back together and see if that helps. I have an old computer but i dunno if the graphics card is compatible...the current one with the problem has pci express, pci , and agp ports so im guessing that it would be? A few users had same input on the video card, thanks! but if i cant hardly see the screen...would the new/other hardware automatically attune itself to the computer? ill see how it pans out hopefully it does..Or maybe theres a ctrl command or something to install the new one?

Seems like a video issue.
1. Check to see that the video cable is plugged in to the back of the computer and the monitor securely. If it is not check to see that the pins on both ends of the video cable are not bent or broken. Also check out the cable itself. There should be no soft or broken spots in the length of it.
2. Driver issues can wreck havoc on a monitor. Since it will be difficult or impossible to navigate on screen to fix, try booting the system into Safe Mode under Safe Mode VGA, as this will force the system to use a safe universal driver for the video system.
3. If the video card is not integrated (built into the motherboard) check to see that the video card is seated properly into its slot.
4. If the operating system is Professional, Business or Ultimate version and Remote Desktop is enabled, you could use Remote Desktop on another PC to access the system and make changes as Remote Desktop is not video driver dependant.
4. Get another video card installed as the current one may have failed.

Hello my friend, i am sure there are many good anti-virus programmes on the market that could fix this, but why pay money when it is just as easy to reinstall the operating system, if you have the discs that is. When you have done your install also download windows defender from Microsofts website

It sounds more like it might be your video card that is the problem. If it's possible to try a different video card, I would do that. I don't know of many viruses that would affect your display that much.

It may not be a virus. I had the same problem about two weeks ago, but not as serious as yours. Lines appeared on my monitor and ran in all different directions.

Then, it stopped - but began again. I took a look at the back of my computer and began moving the wires and cables around. That solved the problem. One of the wires was shorting out my video card.

With your computer, the way you describe it - there may be a problem with your video card. If you are unable to find a problem with your wires or cables you may want to take your computer to a repair facility to have the video card checked.

The best thing to transfer pics from camera to computer is not to transfer directly. Take out the memory card and load the pic through card reader. This is even faster and safer for your camera getting the virus. perhaps your camera is now virus infection but I just hope it's not. try it, that's what am doing.

ur comp has an estimated time set by the company which is 20 mins if ther is no activity on the comp it goes to sleep wht u ave to do is go in device manager and uncheck the box in display frm advance option in tht way ur comp will never go to sleep dont know if u will understand this not good at typing working for tech supp for hp used to talking no typing

you will need to ask the company for another one you cant usually download them off line and if you do itll be full of viruses and other bad stuff so just send a request into the company itll cost you anywhere from 15-30 dollars which is much better than a comp full of viruses and If you ever need anymore help with electronics questions pleases dont hesitate to ask me at

You can use any disk as long as you own the license code. Do you know the type of virus and it's name. I could possibly help with a removal tool or advice if I know more.

your files might have been corrupted i know the end close screen file sometimes and will get corrupted quicker than startup screen
now the question is was this the floor model or a straight out of the box unopened comp cause floor models always needs to be reformated those are the show comps. people play with those all day once you reform. comp. and put in new O.s. system everything should come back to working perfectly and dont forget spyware checkers and virus blockers name branded backed up these will help protect your comp

simple other solution might be you just need to upgrade your system files threw windows update

Old comp had virus

The best way to delete any unwanted content is to install and run the Philips Device Manager software from the product CD, and select the restore option.

This software is only compatible with Windows XP.

Viruses would not cause damage to the MP3 because they do not run any files loaded on to them

Mymonitor is black and the on button from the monitor is green and is flashing

i havent seen this question asked, and believe me i have searched. i have compaq presario, windows xp media edition 2005, 64 amd processor, model # SR2017CL, with HP 1703 17" monitor. Prob-put computer in hibernate mode other evening, without turning it off. when i woke up, screen had diagonal lines going across it. i rebooted, well manually restarted, since comp would not respond.
Message comes up white with black writing, essentially, prob with active desktop, restore or turn off. i tried to turn off and screen went back to diag. lines. looks like the horizontal hold of a tv screen is asque. tried adjusting monitor to no avail.
tried a few more times, was fine for a few mins then went to same thing. now when i turn monitor on it blinks red, blue, and so on.
just whole screen that color. so i am at the point where i dont
know if its the comp or the monitor. (i am quite a newby)
