Washer gets a F6 fault during the spin cycle

Kenmore Elite SmartWash HE4t : Everything works fine, except at about 20 minutes before end of cycle, gets a F6 fault during the spin cycle

I unplugged the washer for about 10 minutes. It ran through the cycles and faulted out (F6) I set up a rince and spin only cycle on HIGH spin, and it completed the cycle to the end.

Hi.

F6 is a Drive Motor Error.

The CCU (control unit) does not detect that the motor is running.

Try tripping the circuit breaker or unplugging power cord for a couple of minutest and test again.

The error will likely come back. In that case there is a fault.

Fault can concern:

  1. Connectors and wiring harness between CCU(main control) and MCU(motor control unit).
  2. Drive motor.
  3. Motor control unit.
  4. Central control unit.

The motor control unit is a control board located in a sealed box inside the machine. The MCU is connected to motor on one side and to CCU on the other side.

The parts must be tested. A complete test is done inspecting boards, energizing motor, reading continuity on harness and contacts, reading voltage.
For safety reasons, testing must be done by a trained person.

You can get diagrams and parts using the link at the bottom.

Try also calling Kenmore at the number listed on the use and care guide.

Here parts and diagrams, enter full model number as printed on service tag:Parts & Accessories

It is either the variable speed motor, the motor control unit, or the wiring.

The motor is tested jumping contacts and energizing it at different speeds, the rest of testing reading voltages and impedance.

The job must be done by a technician.

    Call service.

If you are a technician, test the motor, then read voltages at MCU and motor, or read impedance on different point, after disconnecting power. The test is quite complicate, this is not just replacing a drain pump or testing a pressure switch. You need to call the number on the manual.

My kenmore elite smartwash/he4t

The "F11" fault code will display if the Motor Control Unit (MCU) has an internal failure; repeating under or over voltage, or over current conditions. If failure occurs during high speed spin the door unlocks after 3 minutes. The MCU (Motor Control Unit) is located beside the motor. Here is the part to order.

Stop frequently on spin and rinse cycle F6 code

I have a Kenmore Elite he4t front load washer that was working fine and then we moved and now it stops washing midstream and flashes an F and a H. I have to pause and restart then it will stop washing again after a few minutes and flash the same codes again. I reset again and then it stops with 1 minute left and will not drain.

He4t kenmore elite smartwash quietpak9. keeps flashing F2?

"F02" is a Long Drain error. This is an indication that there's an obstruction somewhere in the drainage system. Most commonly, the drain pump reservoir needs to be checked and cleaned. The access screws are on the bottom front edge of the lower toe panel directly below the door. You may need to prop up the two front feet of the washer to access them (a 2x4 works well for this). The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574284-checking_the_drain_pump_on_a_front_loade

It does not take much to damage the pump impeller or motor. Since the error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes, if the pump is damaged and can't pump at the required volume, the error code will continue to appear until the pump is replaced. If the pump requires replacement, the following link explains how:

Replacements can be purchased online at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare.

If you have any questions about this repair, or need additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
