1st check light on power brick, red means it has overheated, let it cool and give it more ventilation.
2nd are you using a play and charge kit, if so remove the cable, this happens with mine sometimes.
3rd look into the usb ports on the right hand side under the big flap (this is easier if you remove the faceplate) look for damage or bent pins this will short the unit so it won't turn on, just bund any pins back.
4th it may be a resister fault, you would be best to book a repair with a professional repair centre.
Remember thumbs up if this helps.

Try unplugging everything off and then back on. Also, swtiching the power cord, if not i know Videogame911.com fixes both the cord and console.

I shut the power off and now the xbox wont turn on. i tried to plug it in to a different plug in and there was smoke. just wondering if it is fried

Your power cord may be damaged. Unplug the cord from the back of the Xbox and the wall of course. Examine it to see if it is damaged. If there is damage from sparking you should get a new cord. You might also try using a different power cord (from a friend or in a video game store) to make sure the console is ok.

only known fix for the three rings is to send it in to microsoft for a new after they have examined it to make sure it has not been tampered with or other means of voiding the warranty

Wont turn on!!!!

this is a power circuit board failure. you may have several capacitors that are blown on this unit. This , unfortunately, this is not a do it yourself and you will need to a qualified Microsoft tech for this repair.

No power

Try unplugging the cord from the wall and wait a minute before you plug it back in. If it still wont work you will need to replace the power cord.

Orange or Yellow Indicator Light

When the Xbox 360 power supply light is orange or yellow this means there is no problem with your console but the power supply can't supply it with power.

To remedy this problem, first try unplugging the Xbox 360 power supply from the console and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. You'll also want to uplug the Xbox 360 power supply from the power cord.

Wait for about five minutes and then reconnect everything. You might also want to try plugging it into another wall outlet without an extension cord.

If you are still getting an orange or yellow indicator light, then something is at fault with the Xbox 360 power supply. If this is the case, contact the Xbox 360 customer support to get a new one

My xbox 360 wont turn on

It may be a problem with the cord. I recommend you get a replacement cord. If it still does not work after that, you'll have to get the system looked at. Bring it back to the retailer. Don't forget your warranty. If the warranty did expire, then you'll have to buy a new one.

Original xbox wont load and tray wont open

Ouch, horrible problem.
Try these:
1. hold the eject button for 30 seconds
2. leave the xbox off for a few minutes
3.try a new outlet[may not have enough power to do anything]
4.get a new power cord
Hopefully this helps
