the refrigerator portion is not really cooling like it used to and the error message of "er dh" shows on the display for a couple of weeks now. It will only go away for a few minutes if you unplug it and plug it back in and then it will return. I've read online that the defrost sensor may need to be replaced. Sears on the phone doesn't seem to know what I'm talking about or locate the part that I would need. Any help? Is the defrost sensor called something else? If I order and try to replace this part, is it hard to replace and will it most likely fix the problem?

Well, I guess I'll find out what the problem is as soon as the service guy gets there and looks at it. He's on his way right now.

I hope this information can help anyone else with this problem because there wasn't much help finding out that the defrost sensor is really called the controller assembly.

Medeer,
Thank you so much! We had same problem with our 2 year old fridge and followed the advice on this page. I ordered the part, took apart the freezer to pop out the back panel and plugged in the new part. Took about an hour, but saved us lots of time and money! Thank you so much for sharing! this really should be a recall part and the solutiom should be on the Kenmore site.

We bought our fridge in November '06. The ER DH message showed up in May, but the temperature in the refrigerator seemed to be okay - until this week. I've done the unplug and plug back in routine and it maintains for 4 or 5 hours.
As of this week, the temperature is definitely not maintaining, which is why I came looking. I've sent an email to Sears strongly suggesting that this is NOT an out-of-warranty issue, it is a RECALL issue. Maybe they just got a batch of bad chips, but the number of folks just in this little corner indicate that they are aware and it should not be our problem.
If they don't come through this week, I'll buy the part and do the install. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Thank you medeer, I had the ER DH error code, my refrigerator began to warm up. I ordered part # 6615JB2005H for $11.99 from sears, took off the bottom freezer door, removed all components from inside the freezer including the rails screwed into the right side of the freezer so that I could remove the back panel from inside the freezer. Located the assembly which is simply pluged in with a locking connector, and pulled out the two probes inserted in the grill. Took me about half an hour, but my Kenmore has been running just fine. Guess I'll order another assembly for when it fails again
Found the green technical data sheets under the refrigerator in a small plastic bag near the front.
My refrigerator is 20 months old, just a few months past the warrentee,

The Sears technician said that the defroster chip PCB Board had died and the whole board needed to be replaced. Sears was charging $440 for the board, plus $176 for labor. I declined and managed to change the board myself in 10 minutes with a new board that I found online for $220.
I'm in the process of defrosting the fridge so I'll let you know if it works. If it doesn't work, then it might be the defroster sensor.

the ER DH error, is still occurring now.
thats with a new control assembly piece from sears direct.
When i pulled the rear panel off the fridge, the coil was pretty heavily frosted up. so it had to be that right?
Dont understand why this solution didnt solve my problem.

I have a similar problem with my Kenmore ELite 75542 but the error code is "er ff". Can anyone tell me what this might mean as I no longer have my owners manual. Thanks
