Question about Memorex MVD2040 DVD Player

1 Answer

Does the Memorex MVD2040 have a fuse that can be replaced? We had a power outage in my area during a storm recently. After the power came back on, my DVD player would not turn on, as if it was not receiving power. I was wondering if there's a fuse that blew out and can be replaced, or is there an inexpensive fix to this problem (it's a cheap DVD player). I'm pretty sure that the problem is due to a power surge, because our cable TV box had to be replaced due to the same symptoms.

Yes there is a fuse!

They are no longer ones that you can change yourself.

Would be best to call a service shop and get an estimate of repair for a blown fuse replacement or my thought is this storm took out the power supply.

If it's a cheep DVD player it would be better to go out and buy a new one or upgrade to the newer Blue Ray player.

Tip

Wii won't turn on after a power outage.

Hey, recently had a power outage and now your Wii won't turn on?

Well unless your Wii is completely fried from the storm then this should work (It has for me every time I have had an outage).

After you find out it's not getting power then just unplug the power cable from the wall and from the Wii. Normally I unplug it for about 12-24 hours then you go plug it back into the wall, plug it back into the Wii, look at the power button and if it is red/orange then it has been fixed and you should never have a problem with it again unless you keep it plugged in during a thunderstorm/power outage!

This has happened to me about 8 times and this method worked every single time!

Put lens cleaner in my memorex mvd2016 and it still says "wrong disk"

Had the same thing. Tried opening and closing a number of times- powered on and off a few times- used a lens cleaner- nothing.

Unplugged the power cord from the wall, plugged it back in- BINGO- it works. For now.

I have a proscan TV Model PS27123. We've had a lot of power outages in our area due to bad storms and the other TV sets came back on except thi one after we recovered power.

Good day.
I believe the power supply circuit of your unit got busted. You can also try replacing the fuse. It might caused the problem.

My Memorex DVD player will not open or come on

I just fixed a Memorex 2042 DVD player. Before the fix, the standby light was lit, nothing else works (with remote or buttons on the player panel). Opened up the machine, saw a capacitor bulged (1000uf/10v). Did some soldering work and replaced it. All is fine now.
