There is a small pin hole below the tray. Straighten a paper clip and gently push it in this hole. The tray will unlock and pop out slightly, then pull the tray out and remove the DVD disc.

Dvd drive door stuck

In case you're not able to eject the disc using the eject button, you can try right clicking on the CD/DVD drive under 'My Computer' and clicking on eject. If that fails as well, you can try to eject the disc manually by pushing a straightened paper clip or a pin into the tiny hole on front of the CD/DVD drive. You should be able to eject it using the last method.

How do I open the dvd door on my dell computer?

By pressing the eject button in front of DVD drive, if that's not working or is mechanically damaged, then go to start, then my computer, then you will see your drives. Right click on DVD/CDR the select eject. If you got it stucked with something and it won't eject then you need to find yourself a paper clip and straighten one end, you will then insert and push hard thru a small ejection hole in the front of DVD drive itselft.

I have a disc stuck in the cd/dvd drive do i have to take the computer apart to remove it?

Luckily, people who made the DVD and CD drive thought of this. On the drive, underneath where the cd tray comes out is a very small hole, slightly bigger than a pin. When you find it, get a needle, or very pointy small object, and push inside, which should eject the CD tray. You may not hit the button on the first try, slide it in straight, and try again.

Hi,

You can try booting the recovery disk from a USB external dvd drive. You have to check first if your motherboard supports booting from a USB devices. Otherwise, you gotta replace the dvd drive.

All the best!

Cd drive will not eject or run any software

Place your laptop on a flat surface always. It give some tilt on already cramp space on the cd drive. It could make disc hit something inside to make it stuck so it will not spin and read. It also misaligned mechanism inside the drive to make a full eject.

EMachines PC that has not yet been thrown out the window, but....

If this computer came with XP Home, and you don't have a disc, then they would have put the restore files in a separate partition on the hard drive. Do you have the manual for the pc? It's possible to recover your system without losing everything. What happened when you used the recovery disks and XP Pro?

LAPTOP DVD DRIVE WONT PLAY DVDS ANYMORE

Drive is on its way. Typical behaviour. Try air dusting lens but unlikely to fix it. Very easy diy repair and cheap. EBay the new disc drive or refurbished. Then go to youtube. Nearly all laptop drives are the same to replace no matTerry brand. You could even get a faster drive.
