    this is my problem
    when you go to the
    MAIN MENU.
    Select INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS.
Select AUDIO CONTROLLER which is usually set to AUTO.
There is no Audio Controller in the INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS.

Although I'm not familiar with that motherboard the usual way to disable the onboard sound is;
Enter the bios by pressing the Delete key or F2 when the machine starts to boot.
Go to the Integrated Peripherals section and find the On-Board line and change it to disable.

    Hi.

Sorry I wasn't very clear in my instructions.

If you can get into the bios look for Disable On-Board Audio.

I not sure that the number you have given for the motherboard is correct.

Have another look at the board and check between the card slots for a number usually ms-**** or msi-*****

Post back with the number and I'll let you know exactly where to look in the Bios.

    OK.

Start the machine and immediately press the Delete key several times. This should take you to the BIOS screen MAIN MENU.

    Select INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS.

Select AUDIO CONTROLLER which is usually set to AUTO.

Press Enter and select the DISABLE option.

Press the F10 key to save changes. Exit the BIOS and reboot.

You can download a manual from here

    Good luck.

    Ok.

Assuming you are using a version of Windows:

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM, DEVICE MANAGER,

Scroll down to Audio and disable the onboard device.

Windows will then ensure that the new device won't clash with the onboard.

    Best of luck

2 video card detected. onboard card are desable. PCIe card EN210GT. card detected first EN210 second 6150se MB MSI-7309 K9N6SGM-V

use your PCIE card to boot-up from CMOS, then check your onboard vga, try to configure it by 1st boot is your onboard, if that wont work then maybe your onboard vga was already damaged, better to use pcie video card rather than an onboard because it lets you consume the whole amount of your memory unlike the onboard card.. THanks

My n1996 onboard display card doesnt displsy any more, can i use an another AGP CARD

Your board has S3 graphics and if you would like to try and find drivers for that this is MSI's link;
http://www.msi.com/service/download/
I don't know what version of windows you are running and/or what the exact problem is with your graphics however, to answer your question, Your card will accept AGP 8X, 4X cards and, as long as you have an operational slot open, yes you can use AGP cards. If you have upgraded to Windows 7, you can find cards that have Windows 7 support.

I need to download a sound card for acer n1996 but every site takes me to driverboost and i have to purchase it?? can anyone tell me how to get my speakers working pleaseeeeed

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/veriton_3600g.html
under "audio driver" you see Onboard Sound Driver for all MS Windows Versions ... click on it... and run the setup...
it should work...
"
ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/desktop/veriton3600g/drivers/audio/audio.zip
"
one more thing ...
your motherboard model is not ACER N1996...
it may be MS 6772... or any other MSI model...

check your motherboard... under ACER 1996 you can see a small box with model name...

HAPPY HEARING...
