do u have the software loaded into the MAC fro the camcorder?that is the 1st step.
does your camcorder use firewire for downloading?

The problem is that the JVC does not have software for the Mac or I would have done that which you suggested. The camcorder is USB to the computer connection.

I have ivideo installed on my Mac but it does not recognize the JVC camcorder Model GZ-MS130AU

U need the MAC drivers for the camcorder, if none are available for this camcorder then u need use a Windows based PC to do the download, there is no other way..

there are no drivers, checked with Apple support there are no drivers for this camera, u are not alone allot of folks have this problem with MAC computers. The fact is this, Windows is the dominate system out there, it is not cost effective to write software for anything unless the product is a huge seller and there is a need.

Best HD Camcorder for Mac, iMovie, iMovie? 08, iMovie? 09

Recording daily life and interesting things with a HD camcorder becomes a trend for our people. They like to share these digital camcorder videos on Mac or PC with family and friends. However, selecting a good digital camcorder for Mac is not easy for green hand. Maybe more tips need paying attention, for example, the types of your camcorder and Mac, the version of iMovie on Mac, Mac and PC compability with digital camcorder and so on.

iMovie has been a Mac OS X only application bundled in the iLife suite of Macintosh applications since iMovie3. From 2007 to 2010, Apple developed iMovie to iMovie' 08, iMovie' 09, and iMovie for iPhone and iPod Touch. Luckily, iMovie' 08, iMovie' 09 are designed to work with a wide range of digital video devices and formats, including tape-based(use a FireWire cable, also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) and the latest tapeless camcorders that record to flash memory, a hard disk drive(HDD), or DVD media.

A list of Digital Camcorders Compatible with iMovie' 08, iMovie' 09 on Mac OS X
NTSC Camcorders(a video format used in North America, Central America, Japan, and parts of South America)
Canon: DC20, DC50, DC220, DC230, FS10, FS11, FS100, HF10, HF11, HF100, HG10, HG20, HG21, HR10.

Although iMovie' 08, iMovie' 09 on Mac OS work with most of HD digital camcorders using MPEG-2 (standard definition), MPEG-4, AVCHD, and H.264 formats, not all tapeless camcorders are compatible with iMovie' 08, iMovie '09 because of the wide range of media types and the different ways manufacturers store video on these media types.

How to fix it? I need mac software for my jvc everio gz-mg360bu camera.

There is a chance that you will be able to get back some or all of your digital videos from your JVC camcorder based on your Macintosh.

First things first: DO NOT take any more videos with the memory card or stick that you want to recover videos from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of video recovery.

Quick Internet searches will reveal a tremendous number of Mac recovery programs. Here are some for your reference(there is no freeware I suppose)

Data Recovery (from Mac Update)

Caution - Do NOT try & write anything back to the memory card of stick until you can recover your videos safely!

My mac OS 10.5 driver (disc) for Everio GZ HD7 camcorder?????

Hey Brett, unfortunately FCP and iMovie are looking for a device over Firewire or a capture card (whichever you have set up). The driver off of the disk is actually quite useless under any Mac Os 10. Video editing programs unless older or PC based rarely use USB for video transfer hence why none of the apps are locating the camera. Unfortunately you'll have to transfer the files via USB as data and use a program like MPEGStreamclip to transcode them to a file format those programs will understand. JVC has released updated software but it seems to do nothing at all. I hope this helps.
P.S. you may need the MPEG 2 Codec to do the conversions wether you're using MPEGStreamclip or another application.
