1 Answer

My ch25-730 has one of the cylinders exhaust pipe turning bright red at a medium rpm. What would cause this problem? The other remains normal. This engine has only 6 hours on it.

I have a 05 chevy impala check engine code p0036 n p0142 bank one sensor two which sensor do I replace

If you have access to a scan tool, check the signal voltage for the Bank 1,3 oxygen sensor with the engine at normal operating temperature. Is it stuck low currently? If so, increase RPM for a few seconds and see if it affects the reading. If it begins working with increased RPM, check for holes in the exhaust near the O2 sensor that may cause a false lean. If the exhaust pipe is intact, the sensor is sluggish, replace it. If the Bank 1,3 O2 sensor voltage reading remains low with increased RPM, unplug it and then observe the reading. It should have increased to about 0.5 volts or thereabouts. If it did, check for water intrusion or other connector problems. If none are found, replace the shorted O2 sensor.

The exhaust pipe at the cylinder head on my 2009 DYNA glide glows bright red, is this a problem with exhaust not leaving the pipe fast enough? Also, I think I have an exhaust leak on the same pipe.

I have an XLCH1000 that had the same problem. I fitted finned exhaust clamps at the cylinder end and that cooled it down.

I have caterpillar disel genretor of 456kva capacity, when i switch on generator within halfhour of running it's EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND TURBINE GETS RED HOT. i am not able to understand why gets red...

It is quite normal for the exhaust manifold and turbo to get very hot, especially when the engine is working hard running at high speed under load. Every time the mixture in the cylinder is ignited there is a small explosion producing a BIG flame and a lot of heat to push the piston down. A lot of this heat goes out the exhaust. During daylight it is usually not noticeable, but at night it will visibly glow up to a bright red.

In relation to the oil pressure dropping, providing the oil level is at the correct level, there may be a restriction in the gauze filter on the input of the oil pump due to sludge buildup. Once the engine warms up and the oil thins out, the oil pump can't work at maximum capacity. The drop in RPM could be caused by the turbo getting insufficient lubrication and cooling due to the low oil pressure reducing oil flow to the turbo causing it to not work at its optimum speed and efficiency and therefore through reduced air flow into the cylinders the engine would tend to loose speed especially when under high load. The drop in RPM could also be caused by a problem with fuel flow to the injector pump causing the engine to run lean which would not allow the engine to produce maximum power and also contribute to higher exhaust temperatures because the governor would have the throttle wide open to try and maintain the engine speed when the generator is required to produce maximum output.

How to change an exhaust on a ford focus 1.6 16 v

there are rubber mounting underneath the car, remove there.

follow the exhaust pipe to the engine, loosening any bolts and nuts holding the exhaust in place.

the exhaust pipe meets the exhaust manifold close to the engine. loosen it there and replace,

the part remaining on the engine (also a much thicker pipe than the pipe) is the exhaust manifold. this must the loosened at the engine itself. normally two nuts per cylinder and your car being 4 cylinder its 8 nuts.

There nuts can be dreadfully tight though, it gets hot there so the expansion and cooling of of the studs and nuts tend to make them tighter over time

Exhaust red hot,why?

It is quite normal for the pipe/muffler connected to the engine exhaust port to get very hot, especially when the engine is working hard running at speed under load. During daylight it is usually not noticeable, but at night it will visibly glow up to a bright red.

Left exhaust pipe is turning a gold colour for approxiamtely 12 inches from the engine

It is normal. One cylinder & pipe are a bit hotter than the other. It is not at all unusual to see one pipe discolored more than the other.
