Dreamcast weird colors

Well i recently bought a dreamcast off ebay. When i fired it up it had contrast colors (like the opposite) and my speaker lets off a unpleasant buzz. Video lead problem, or the console itself?

IF you are plugging it into the scart port then this has happened to me; it's because the dreamcast only supports one type of SCART (there's RGB and the other type...cant recall what it's called..)

The simple solution is:

1) if your TV has two ports then plug the scart cable into the OTHER one (one is usually RGB, one is not)

2) if you're using a splitter so many scarts can go into one socket then DON'T !

3) Might be your TV doesnt support it - find an RF adaptor instead, these generally work...

Are you sure you have the correct plugs into it, sounds like you have the video where the audio should be.

I just got a brand new cable for my dreamcast but i still have no picture. The problem seems to be internally. What should I do?

the problem might be in the Dreamcast its self or the tv you our using. try connecting it to a another tv and see if that works. If it dosent it is the Dreamcast and i have no idea were you will get another one exept on ebay.

Freezing problem with Games

The Dreamcast is no longer supported because it was to easy to copy the games, but there are still a loyal few who keep the scene alive. I have no idea how much you want to put into fixing the problem, but the only way to fix your problem is flashing the Dreamcast BIOS.

The Dreamcast is basically a computer; with the right programming you can do anything; and having a Dreamcast Keyboard is nice.

Dreamcast freezes.

take apart your dreamcast and look at the controller input circuit board, there should be a big resistor on near one of the boards corners, make a note of the coloured bands and buy a new resistor with the same pattern and replace the one already on the board with the new one.

Sega Dreamcast console problem

First off, NEVER store a game console on top of a subwoofer. It is like a giant magnet, and electronic devices do not handle magnetics. I don't think i've ever heard of a VGA box, Sega brand or not, killing a console. Millions use aftermarket AV cables and adaptors on all consoles without problem. I think it likely died from being on top of the sub. Relocate it and you should be fine. Running it for a few hours isnt likely either unless you had the vents entirely blocked.
To the guest who's drive isnt spinning, I would say your drive motor has burnt out. This doesn't indicate a defect in Dreamcasts, per se, it just means bad luck or excessive dust which killed it. Either buy a different Dreamcast or see if you can find a drive replacement.
Hope this helps.

Date screen

If you unplug you Dreamcast for extended periods of time the battery in your Dreamcast that saves that info will die (its suppose to last a month but over time they will wear out and not last at all). After 1 hour of gameplay (assuming the battery is still working, as Li's wear out) the battery will be fully charged and last a month.
