Question about Sport & Outdoor - Others

I have a 2005 polaris sportsman700. while riding, it started making a kinda slapping sound. stopped to see if anything was wrapped around one of the axles, found nothing. got back on,moved about 3 feet then motor just reved out. have no movement in any of the gears now, but it did roll freely still while pushing it to load up. what is my easiest way to troubleshoot this problem?

Just a clarification first.. Does the engine REV out when you apply throttle or does it do it on its own? If it does it when you use the accelerator then I would say it could possibly be the transmission. Possibly one of the belts in the CVT transmission slipped out of place. Possibly a tensioner is bad. This would exlpain the slapping sound. Just a thought for you.

Sounds like a ticking noise from transmission

Probably not the tranny. Check the drive shaft to see if a bit of trash has wrapped itself around the shaft causing it to slap the bottom of the vehicle when moving.

Atv transmission

sounds like the connecting rod on the crankshaft.
i would inspect the primary clutch first before an engine teardown. Sometimes the engine shifts on the engine mounts and the clutch hits the cover, also check to make sure belt is not slapping around in cover.

Predator 500cc.i was out trail riding and it started to bog down alittle, shut it off and when i went to start it wouldnt turn over. my lights were flickering

First thing to check would be the battery connections. Make sure the positive and negative cables are tight. I've chased problems on several atvs, especially Predators, to find out the battery cables were loose. They will make the atv cut out or bog down while riding and make lights flicker. Let me know if you need anything else, Daniel.

Idling good start good but stalls if pressing throtle

there is a piece of debris floating around in the sediment bowl of your carburetor, its lodged in the high speed jet causing it to stumble and backfire......it will most likely need a carb rebuild average repair cost on this machine is around 150 dollars at a reputable polaris dealer

My 2002 polaris sportsman700 winch stopped working a few mo. ago, when you hit the power switch it just clicks under the seat. Silenoid? Any suggestions.

make shure all your wires have no corosion. to see if the wich is gone you can actually hook a battery directly with jumper cable were the wires connect on the winch this will isolate if it is a winch issue
