Question about Agfa SnapScan E52 Flatbed Scanner

"Problem with installation unit may not work" Error message keeps telling me to turn on scanner or plug it in. Have re-installed the software but same error messages appear.

    The problem still exists. When the light on the scanner is on I still get request to turn on the scanner.

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software that came with the scanner to no avail.

Did u follow the installation instructions for the scanner, sounds like you may have missed a step or done the software installation incorrectly, there are ways around any problem like this, it all depends on what the operating system of your computer, so let me know if you can't get it right what operating system u have, also remember many many types of hardware get sold with software that is defective, so go to the Agfa product support site for the scanner and download the latest version of software

    OK, download the latest software for this at the Agfa support site, save it to the desktop, then open the software and load it, once that is done go to the CONTROL PANEL in the START MENU, in the START MENU select PRINTERS AND OTHER HARDWARE, in the next window that opens u select ADD HARDWARE, this is at the top left under SEE ALSO list, plug in the printer and the wizard will guide you through the installation process, it will locate the software for the device and load it.

You can download and install the software/driver from here :

Disconnect first your unit and delete previously installed driver(s) . Install downloaded software ( full ) .You may need to reboot . Reconnect unit after reboot .

After 2 yrs unused have decided to run in new dell


Did you plug in the scan unit and then installed the software?
If you did you will have to unplug or turn off your scanner then uninstall your software.
Reboot and the with the scanner turned off reinstall the software. If the install asks you to plug in your scanner, turn it on. If it asks you to reboot, then reboot. After rebooting, turn on the scanner then start the Easy Scan Utility. This should work.
It worked for me.

Error messages; Error: "Cartridge Error 50C"; Cartridge error; Black cartridge missing; Color cartridge missing Solution Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.

  1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.
  2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.
  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.
  4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below.

Error: Black Cartridge Missing
The black cartridge is not installed. (Install cartridge PN 82)
Error: Color Cartridge Missing
The color cartridge is not installed (Install cartridge PN 83)
Cartridge Error
Complete the following instructions:

  1. Power off your All-in-One.
  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.
  3. Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
  4. Remove the color print cartridge.
  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
    If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.

Just installed software on my new C8180 All-in-One and scanning is a problem. Error messages keep telling me to remove software and to reinstall etc... Re-start etc.... I have done all these things but the...


You may have to temporarily disable your FIREWALL, ANTI-VIRUS, PHISHING FILTER, etc to get the software to install correctly. Also, when installing the software, do not use the DEFAULT OPTIONS. If there is an ADVANCED setting for the scanner, select that, and see if you can configure it for your requirements.
