The trim ring (flush with ceiling) rotates ccw to remove. Than you'll see small screws holding cover in place. Remove, lower cover and wires will be accessible.

I want to put a toggle switch to turn my fan on,,,,,, i have main line coming in and i have another 2 wire with ground to the fan cieling ,,,,what wires do i attach to the switch thank you

Assuming you are referring to a standard single pole switch and a 120 volt ceiling fan. The main incoming wire consists of a black, a white and a bare ground. The outgoing wire consists of a black, a white and a bare ground. First make sure the power is off. Then you will connect the two white wires together with an approved wire connector and fold them in to the switch box. Next twist the two bare ground wires together and use an approved wire connector (Greenie). Allow one of the bare ground wires to extend out through the hole in the greenie. this bare ground will attach to the green screw on the switch. Next take the black incoming wire and attach it to one of the two screws on the side of the switch. Then take the outgoing black wire and attach it to the other screw on the side of the switch. Encircle the switch with electrical tape covering the screws. Install the switch in to the switch box. Install the cover plate and then turn on the power. The fan should then turn on and off with the wall switch.

How do I uninstall a ceiling fan?

Turn the power off, to be safe i recommend turning it off at the breaker box, there should be a list on the onside of the panel door showing what switches operate what. or you can simply leave the wall switch that operates the fan in the off position if you're sure nobody will turn it on. If fan has a light remove the glass bowl over the bulbs, should be three screws it the top of the glass fixture, loosen them with your fingers, if they are to tighttry pushing up on the bowl from the bottom to relieve pressure off the finger screw. Remove light bulbs then unbolt each fan blade, once the blades are off remove the motor cover should be one small screw at top of the cover close to the ceiling, once the screw or screws are removed if the cover does not come down you may need toturn it using both hands, it only needs to turn a little bit and no need to be gentle. With the motor cover off the mounting bracket should be easy to spot. Some brackets only have one srcew on one end and a tad that slides into a slot on the upper bracket, by removing the one screw this will allow the motor assembly to swing down but still be attached to the bracket for support. Whith the motor hanging the wiring in the fixture box in the ceiling should be visible, pull the wires out of the box so ythat the wire nuts are accessible. there will bee three wires coming from the fan, one screwed directly to the box or bracket, loosen the screw with a screwdriver and pull the wire from the box, the other two wires attached to wires with wire nuts, one at a time remove the nuts by twisting them off with your fingers, pull the wires apart and twist the wire nut back onto the wires coming from the box in the ceiling, the fan should now be disconnected. romove the motor from the brack by turning it 90? and sliding the tab out of the slot in the upper bracket. remove the upper bracket piece from the fixture box. Now that you have done this installing a new light fixture should bea breeze for you.
the video shows a different easier type of fan removal. There are numerous types of fans and how they are mounted, i hope this helps you

Hampton bay ceiling fan broke. How to screw it back up

It already looks like it's "screwed up". ( LOL) BEFORE BEGINNING READ ALL OF THIS FIRST< PLEASE> First turn off the breaker that supplies power to the fan. Take down the whole unit up to the ceiling mounts. It looks like the wood is broken that the screw bracket used to mount the fan is on. If it is you will need to reinforce the wood and rescrew the fan mounting bracket on it. THe ball carrier from the bracket should now be secure and ready to mount the swing ball of the fan at the top of the fan unit motor. Next rewire the fan to the wires in the ceiling with the wire nuts you removed. Tighten the ball screw and push the cover plate up to the ceiling, fastening it in place with the screws provided to the ceiling plate...Done!

I have checked the power breaker and it is ok but the lights and fan do not work is there a fuse in the unit

the connection at the ceiling plate and box may have come loose, remove the cover plate and check for power in the box, ( black wire in the ceiling box should show power, white is neutral) if you have no power there, check the switch at the wall that controls the ceiling box

How do you remove the casing that is attached to the ceiling

The canopy that is attached to the ceiling is removed by the four screws in the side of it (right up against the ceiling. Often there is a plastic trim ring around these screws that must be removed first. This either twists an 1/8 of a turn and then comes off OR you just pull it down and off. Then you can access the four screws, normally you only need to take out two of the screws and the other two just need to be loosened. I have made a crude drawing using paint and will upload it to give you a better idea. There is another possibility too, which there are two screws in the underside of the canopy. These can also be hidden by a trim plate, these trim plates always twist a bit and then come off. In my experience with fans, which is pretty substantial, this would be the two ways most of them come off the ceiling.jeffmch.jpg

Remove ceiling cover plate of Hampton Bay Antigua. This is the model that does NOT have srews on the outside of the coverplate that you loosen before turning. We've tried everything. Left, right.... You...

first you will need a ladder and a screwdriver/phillips a couple wire nuts or electrical tape.at the "top" of the fan you will see a bowl shaped cover it will have usually no more than two screws in it..loosen or remove those screws to access the fan hanger inside.once you get that far inside you will see several wires .undo each wire seperatly and cover with a wire nut or electrical tape(please make sure your power is off to that circuit) once you have unhooked all the wires from the fan and secured them out of the way. lift the fan out of the hanger itself (sometimes it is easier to remove each blade from the motor housing before removing the fan from its hanger ) those screws can be found at the base of each blade on the motor housing..If you are moving or adding a cieling light be sure to remove both parts of the fan hanger..the second part will still be attached to the cieling..usually two screws holding it into place..if just replaacing the fan,,you can sometimes leave the second part there and hang the new fan with it..

look carefully there are screws somtimes with a grommet or paint as these were built in factorys all over the world and are very inconsistent if you rrally cant find screws and it will twist it is always left

left is loose right is tight
lefty loosy righty tighty lol

my grandad taught me that one i always remember

LED light too dim, is there a brigher LED kit?

You need these parts:
- Low profile GU24 socket (Maxlite MLGSIIB)
- GU24 CFL bulb (Progress Lighting MLS13GUSWW6)
- Threaded pipe fitting, nut, washer
- 2 wire nuts

Here is how to fix it for a few bucks. You need a low-profile GU24 socket (Maxlite MLGSIIB), which is readily available in large mail order channels. You also need a GU24 compact fluorescent bulb (Progress Lighting MLS13GUSWW6) that is available through Home Depot mail order or other internet retailers. To my knowledge, these are the only parts that fit into the low-profile glass.
You'll also need a threaded pipe fitting and a proper size nut for attaching the GU24 base to the holder, both readily available at the ceiling fan section in HD. You'll also need a washer underneath the nut to hold the socket in place. Put your MacGyver skills to work.
To change the parts, uninstall the light fixture by unscrewing the glass, then removing three screws that hold the LED plate in place. Disconnect the LED wire connection and a larger white connection behind it. Then remove three more screws that holds the rest of the light fixture up and remove it from the fan.
Once on the desk, remove the back plate wire cover (3 screws) so you have access to the wires. Unscrew and remove the rectangular box (120v-12v converter), you won't be needing it any longer. Cut the black and white wires close to the module - you'll be attaching the GU24 socket wires to those wires.
Remove the LED circuit board from the plate by pinching the plastic standoffs and then pulling them out. Install the GU socket to the larger hole at the center of the plate using a pipe fitting, washer and a nut. Notice that it fits perfectly - it was probably originally designed to use this socket! You may need a washer that is the appropriate size to hold the socket in place. I also used a piece of bent paperclip underneath the washer to hold everything tight.
Remove the white thermal sleeve from the LED module wiring and insert it over the GU24 socket wires just like it was with the LED wire. This is to prevent heat damage to the wires when they touch the metal edges. Using smaller wire nuts, connect the black and white wires to the wires you cut off earlier when removing the 12v module.
Put everything back together, install the light bulb, and enjoy a much brighter light from this beautiful ceiling fan.

How to wire a ceiling fan

What you need to do is take the plate off at the switch on the wall. There shoulld be black wires and white wires. Attach a resistant tester to the white wires, and connect a long wire to the other probe of the tester. then touch the long wire to one of the black wires at the ceiling. If you are lucky, you might get the right black one on the first try. If not, touch the other black one, and that should be the white wire. Have the electric off to test this. When you find which is the white, or common, read the instruction manual and see which of the brown or greenyellow is designated white. I think these colored wires are at the bottom where the lights connect. At the top of the fan should be a white, blue, black and green wire. The Black wire from the ceiling will attach to the hot black and blue for the lights of the fan. The black wire which you discover to be actually white from the switch should be connectied to the white wire of the fan at the top. The red wire sometimes is used to connect to the blue wire so that you have a switch at the wall for the light and one for the fan. That is an old way of wiring fans. Joe

You are probably missing a part. There should be a mounting plate...usually round...that attaches to the ceiling or electrical box. The mounting plate would have small tabs or a lip around the edge with threaded holes for attaching the cover.
