Question about Lexmark C510n Laser Printer

1 Answer

Color missing recently replaced the toner cartridges for my C510, but the yellow color does not show. Lexmark tech support sent me another one, thinking the cartridge might be defective, but the results are the same. I notice horizontal streaks on the toner cartridge, but tech support says this should not be a problem. What other possibile problems might exist? Thanks.

Printing blank pages on Lexmark C510 printer. Throws a 34 Short Paper error first, prints out a blank page. I have replaced the black toner, but problem continues. Demo page printed colors successfully but...

For 34 Short Paper error, reseat the tray guides and make sure it is set properly. Also, set the correct settings in the computer. For blank pages, always double-check the paper settings and again the settings in the computer. For not printing black, print the Print Quality page and see what color is not printed or not showing. If Print Quality shows black, try printing any document from any application in the computer. Check if you still have the problem. If problem is not resolved, leave a comment so I can get back to this.

Lexmark C510 printer doesn't print yellow color.

Try the old one again. If this works you have a defective new catridge. This sometimes happens.

Not printing

The problem could be the Developer Clutches not turning the cartridge. Thus toner does not develop and get transferred to the photodev cart. This may be due to a missing retainer clip try replacing the clutches. That should solve the problem.

2 of 4 Lexmark c510 high yield cartridges are less than 100% ful

You could be right that you have just purchased a wrongly manufactured ink cartridges. Some manufacturers have a shipping issue called bad batches. You might have just got one of them. If the software says that you only have this much of ink, that is absolute. Possibly it maybe just a software cache where it still reads the previous reading. To clear the cache, simply turn off the printer and unplug the power for few minutes. You also need to restart the computer where the printer software is installed.

Printer Color problems..

Seriously, buy a new printer. Companies sell toner, not printers! The printer is basically a "freebie" and is a marketing vehicle to sell toner. I tossed my C510 into the dumpster. It had four new toner cartridges. System diagnostics said that everything was at 95% or better. The printer had about 1600 prints on it. The first set of toner cartridges (full at purchase!) printed great. Then, I got dotted lines on clean prints. Or, I would get washed out, yellow tinted print and often, there was no black print. I called a printer repair shop and they laughed and told me to chuck the printer - they were suprised it lasted through the first set of cartridges. Lexmark literally "ignored me to death."

I will NEVER buy another Lexmark. The Brother and HP color lazers are probably the best bet. I have two HP B&W's that are paper pumps - an old 4V and a 6MP. The sad part is that I paid a bit more for the Lexmark than the competing HP. You live and then you learn!

Lexmark C510 Laser Printer- Grinding Sound on startup and while printing

Thank you Krissy! I had the same problem with the horrible grinding noise.

I took out all of the toners and the photo developer and noticed that my Blue toner was leaking all over. After reading your post, I tried replacing the toner. It worked!!! No more noise - and no more mess!

Horizontal lines down left margin

Sounds like it's a transfer belt and not a drum you are refering too. Each toner cartridge mose likely has a drum built into it. If the lines are only in one color it may be that toner that is bad. But most likely it's the transfer belt, often called an ITU (Image Transfer Unit) or ETB (Electrostatic Transfer Belt). They sometimes get contaminated with dust, oils from fingers, etc... and can't be cleaned, would need to be replaced.
