This will depend on the brand, model, cable connection type and OS of the laptop. Most have a color control which you can adjust.

We have an Epson Powelite projector mounted in a classroom and just recently it is projecting everything with a purple tint to it. Before that the colors were not as vivid as when we first installed it. ...

An image is produced in these projectors by passing color through three different LCD panels. One is a Red, one a blue, and the last one a purple. It sounds like the green panel is damaged. The only way to tell is to take it to an Epson authorized service center.

My TV is about 9 years old and is a Rear Video Projector. Lately it has been losing the colors. Sometimes a lot of purple and other times a lot of yellow.

Although you may want to keep your television unfortunately your pixels die. However you may try raising the tint on the television manually (It is usually a knob on old television sets), and maybe that will lessen the effects.

Dell 2400 MP DPL Projector projects a yellow tinted image.

Clean any external dust filters or air openings in the unit.If you don't want to remove the filters, you can simply use a vacuum cleaner hose to suction away the dust from the filter element--same effect anyway. The unit probably does indeed need a thorough cleaning.
The yellow effect is most probably a burned BLUE polarizer filter located behind the blue LCD panel. (Color key--Purple onscreen=green lcd, baby blue onscreen=red lcd, and yellow onscreen=blue lcd). That's how you can tell which lcd has dust on it! Usually, the green lcd has the most free area around it and collects the most visible dust. (large purple specs) The polarizer filters can get burned due to excessive heat (not keeping proper ventilation). Of course, it might be the blue LCD panel which is failing prematurely due to heat build-up over time. The polarizer filter isn't that expensive if it can be replaced, however, the actual lcd panel IS.---Rick

Projection has yellow tint

From your description, it sounds like a problem with the blue color. Green LCD=purple onscreen, Red=cyan(baby blue) onscreen, Blue LCD=yellow onscreen. It could be a lot of dust on the blue lcd panel, or worse, might be a burned polarizer filter behind the lcd panel due to excessive heat. If you can focus on the yellow and its tons of yellow specs, its dust. A burned filter however, must be replaced. A technician trained in projectors will have to do it. The filter material is glued to a thin glass panel and is replaced as a single filter. It's a very involved repair.
