I want a dual core processor upgrade

You listed this under PC Laptop? It's a Desktop? Have you ever done a CPU upgrade? You are limited to what will work with your machine, Mobo and other components. Your Mobo is, of course, AMD compatible, so if you read the specs: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireX1200/AspireX1200sp2.shtml The AMD Athlon X2 dual-core is best option. Memory is a easy option to increase speed a bit. Remember, with a 32bit OS the most memory it can use is 3.80 GB's More or Less. With a 64bit OS use more. I have done many CPU upgrades, you may not get the Speed/ processing increase you expect. After all, the components work in conjunction with one another. Do your research on Socket type, Pins, Power requirments, etc., etc.Check, Verify, then re-Check and re-Verify. Use this little freeware program to assist you, it list Spec info in detail, SPECCY at: http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy/.

What is the maximum memory capacity for the MX6027 model ?

Hello Marc,

The maximum is 1 GB. Standard, it comes installed with 256 MB but you upgrade with additional 256 MB or 512 MB memory modules. The modules you are looking for are:

256 MB DDR (1 x 256 MB) SODIMM (PC2700) 2.5v SYNC
512 MB DDR (1 x 256 MB) SODIMM (PC2700) 2.5v SYNC

There are lots of places on the web to find decent prices for this memory. I have included a few below.

http://www.memorystock.com/memory/GatewayMX6027.html

http://www.pcmemorystore.com/Gateway-M_Series_Notebooks-MX6027-ram.htm

http://www.computermemoryoutlet.com/Gateway-M_Series_Notebooks-MX6030-memory.htm

This document includes instructions for replacing the memory. It's a simple straightforward process.

Hope this helps.

Have a blessed day.

Hello, I have a Sharp Actius MC 24. I'm looking to upgrade the memory. I found 1 memory board in the compartment with the fan on the bottom of the machine. This board was labeled 256 MB. Do I remove this...

The other memory module is soldered on to the motherboard.
Go to Crucial.com and run the memory upgrade scanner. This tool will tell you what memory the system can use and exactly how you can upgrade.

SLOW need upgrades

If upgrading RAM is what you're thinking of - I'd suggest you don't. Only go to hardware consultants if absolutely necessary. Nowadays, if let's say you have 512 MB of RAM, it's still sufficient. If you need more because of high demand graphics software, then I would suggest you buy a machine with a greater RAM (pre-existing). There are other reasons a computer is slow. You could have malwares and spywares (run an antivirus scan). If it's clean and your machine is below 512 MB RAM, then I'd suggest to buy new machine.

I tried to upgrade my system to 8mb of ram. With 8mb's installed it will not boot. It will however boot with 7mb's installed. The config is 3 2gb sticks and 1 1mb stick. I checked all the 2 gig sticks...

I think you have your mb and gb confused.

Traditional wisdom says the memory sticks should be the same, the same speed, the same size, same brand, etc.

You are saying here that you have 3 each 3 gb sticks and one each 1 mb stick. This is a very strange combo to my way of thinking.

May I suggest you have www.4allmemory.com perform a free on line scan of your computer and see what they recommend.

You do know to follow static electricity precautions when you are working inside your computer, right? Unplug the computer - really - and ground yourself and stay grounded to the computer while you are working on it - NO EXCEPTIONS! If I were working on your computer, I would think you would expect no less from me.

Please let me know what happens ...

Getting notice that I'm low on virtual memory.

To get system info:

Start > Run > MSINFO32
then hit enter..

Although i don't remember if it works on MS Windows 2000.

It should list the RAM and Page File (Also called virtual memory) in last 2 lines under system summary...

Well i have a compaq presario 1700 XL360 it came with pc100 64 memory ram i tried to upgraded with two 256 memory ram to bring it to total 512 mb thats the max for this computer ...

There is a good chance that your system needs a firmware upgrade in order to recognize the bigger memory. I found one in this page

Be carefull and follow the instructions since you could brick your system.

If that does not work, do not expend more money in that system (very old), just save to get a new one.

P.S. The memory you got is the right kind.

Good luck

It is slow with memory card provided with mobile 256mb.

hi ,

u can go for max512 mb..dont go 1 gb as this will hamper the speed of ur mobile..& if u switch to 512 mb..do try to keep all the stuff in memory card rather than sim memory..transfer mostly all the things from phone memory to mem card. This will sort the speed problem of ur mobile

Thanks
