The dryer heats, motor runs but drum doesnt turn.

Could be one of several things. The drum turns by motor and fan belt around the drum. The most common problem is that the fan belt is broken. Check to see that the drum is free and not bound up by frozen bearings. Also that nothing is jamming the drum. If everything seems to be ok --- you need to check the pulley on the motor shaft and be sure it is tight on the shaft . More than likely -- it is a broken belt. I hope this helped.

Hi Gary,

Since you are able to turn the drum with the belt, I am assuming that you have removed the cabinet of the dryer.

Look for worn bearings and support wheels for the drum. Also have a look at the idler / tension wheel as well.

The drum should not be moving around as it is sitting on the rollers. The belt should maintain enough tension to keep it from doing so. If it is able to be moved, there may not be adequate tension from the idler wheel.

The dryer turns on but the drum dose not turn. It

That is definitely a very good guess. There are other possibilities (bad motor, etc) but that is the most likely by far.

Washer won't spin. Belt is slipping. Tub is stuck.

The belt sounds worn out since its slipping. Change it out. Its cheap fix.

The drum brake does just what is sounds like. brakes the drum. For instance when u open the lid during a cycle and everything stops thats the drum engaging and stops the movement of teh drum. If the brake is malfunctioning two things will happen, you open the lid (assuming the safety switch is still good) or the drum will not spin at all.

The dryer drum won't turn. Everything else seems

If you can hear the motor running when it is turned on then you dryer needs a new belt. If you cannot hear the motor running it needs a new motor.

Drum on my wma62 won't turn

Hi.

The main drum bearigs have failed, you have to disconnect everything you can to enable you have to
remove the whole drum and container through the top of the m/c.
It is quite an involved repair, and could prove to be expensive. more so if the drum shaft is worn.
Good luck.
if you need any further info, let me know

Kenmore Dryer: Drum will rotate, but only manually

Best way to confirm if it's a belt/pulley problem is to remove one of the access panels on the back of the dryer. For many models, it's on the bottom, right hand side. Open it and look inside. You also use that access panel to put a new belt on since it can be difficult to do from the front, having to reach past the drum. But if everything is intact, then you should be able to "rethread" the belt around the idler pulley and onto the motor pulley.

Here's a common diagram:

If the belt is OK, but came off the pulley, then most likely, your idler pulley has too much play in it or the spring has lost tension and isn't holding it securely. I'd put the belt back on. If it comes off again, then look into replacing the idler pulley and/or spring.
