Washer won't spin

Our Roper RAX7245 which @ 13 years old won't spin. When I put it on the spin cycle it just clicks with no spinning. Is it worth attempting to repair?

I followed the above advice and checked the motor coupler. After laying the machine down I was able to watch the motor turn and it wasn't engaging the coupler. I unplugged the machine and removed the two screws from the retaining clips holding the motor to the motor mount on the gear case. I then removed the cracked coupler, grommet and 2nd coupler. I purchased a new coupler and put the machine back together. Everything works fine and I spent @$25.00 on the DIY repair.

My machine moves from agitation cycle to the rinse cycle and then stops before spinning. When I put the selector on spin in any of the cycle settings, I get nothing. There is no noise, spin, or any indications the machine is working. Which of the following could it be, motor, module, timer?

Check the belt to make it has not snapped or is tangled. There may also be some kind of visible obstruction in the way.

Also check: the motor coupler may be broken. Many washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it.

If it seems that washer tub doesn't spin freely it may be seized and expensive to fix this would need to be checked by a repair technician.

It is possible also that the transmission is worn if the tub starts to spin and then stops. This is also a repair technician job and could be expensive for a old machine that parts are hard to come by.

REMEMBER to unplug the washer before working on it to avoid injury.

Washing machine does not spin in any cycle

Hello, It can be one of two things, the contacts in the dial can have worn or broke causing the relay not to open or close to activate spin cycle.

Most likely it is your transmission or main gear for your spin cycle.

I hope its the dial which is an easy fix, but the trans is a big project IF the washer is worth it. You may consider looking for new/used washer if trans is bad. Good Luck.

My 4 year old roper washer leaves grease on clothes. On spin cycle the machine makes a screaching noise, and the clothes don't spin dry.

Possible that the belt is slipping and also there is some issue with the agitator as the gaps within seems to bring up the dirt or grease mix to the clothes.
So it is important to remove the panel and check the play on the belt, replace if the play is high and check if the agitator bearings are worn out. If so the agitator assembly must be taken out and checked.

Good evening, My Roper washer RAX4232PQ0 will not spin...it seems to drain OK but won't spin...can you offer any help? Thanks!

I am thinking if all works good except won't spin, it is your lid switch. Under your washer lid you will notice a peg of some sort that when lidnis closed goes into a slot/hole and that triggers the spin cycle. That is in lamens terms know as a safety idiot switch. It is designed so when the washer is spinning at those high speeds,na child or not to smart adult does not open lid and put hand in while spinning. SO, if switch goes out, of course it won't spin. Switch is cheap , under 20 bucks at any appliance parts store, and they even can tell you at store how to putnin yourself by showing on one of there washers on display. Let me know if I nailed it!! Thanks Mike
