It is because old driver are not camptible with your computer for that you need to connect harddrive where you are able to enter in windows then uninstall all driver and software then try with your computer.
Also go to start menu ->run then type in run "chkdsk /r" then press "y" then restart computer then it fix eror on harddrive .
Then connect yopur harddrive to your computer where you get blue screen of death BSOD error.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Being as the hard drive has been booted up in another pc you know the hard drive is fine and ghost image is not corrupt, so that is not the problem, i suggest checking the bios again and if the board has got a primary ide socket to check that the sata is the primary boot, it could also be worth checking the sata cable, maybe using the cable out of the other pc you tested it on. As it worked in another mechine suggests that it could the hardrive controller circuits on the mother board maybe faulty, have you tested another hardrive to see if you get the same problem? post back your results and hopfully we can remedy this. cheers.

This is due to you have restored the different ghost image for different hardware system. You need to install OS freshly and then create ghost image for future restoration purpose.

Then may be problem with HD controller. check and rectify the same. If possible go to safe mode and install driver for HD controller.

Hi,

You cannot use a ghost image file on a second motherboard. This is how it works in case of Windows XP and newer. It will work in case of Win 98, however.

You need to install Vista from scratch on the new PC.

Trying to install vista 32 bit on my Gateway DX 4720-03.Vista won't install because it can't see Hard drive. How do i disable ahci or sata mode in the bios or is there a work around to install Vista32.

Vista will have the drivers necessary to identify SATA/AHCI controllers, built-in by default. It would not be necessary to turn the AHCI mode 'off' or to 'ATA' mode (unless you get a 7B or inaccessible boot device BSOD). Check if your system has a RAID configuration, in which case there may be a 3rd party supplied RAID driver that you need to install first. Also, check if the HDD cables are connected properly & the HDD is detected in the BIOS (System setup screen) first.

I want to change the HD from 40Gb to one with more capacity but I tried to make a ghost image in a 120GB and 160GB HD but the bios don't recognize it and only can see in the screen a simbol _ flashing.

Not sure which software you are using for making the ghost image. Lets say its "Acronis".
First, you will need an USB hard disk drive to store the image on.
Next, run the boot cd and choose backup.
Send it to the hdd.
If it was successful, remove / replace your hdd.
Run the boot cd again but now choose "Restore". Locate your image and then wait.

Hope this helps you. Norton Ghost is a bit different.

WD 500 GB resized by Norton Ghost Restore to 120 GB and can not get it to original size.

You should partition your new drive first to say 160Gb (you lose a bit after formatting) for 1st partition and the remaining capacity for the 2nd partition. Because your Ghost image is 120Gb it can only restore to a partition of 120Gb, that is why it shows 120Gb on a 500Gb on a single partition.
You may be able to fix this problem without starting again by using Disk Manager (from Control Panel - Admoinistrative Tools) to create a 2nd partition on the hard drive and format this partition.

You can run a 32 bit technology OS on a 64 bit technology platform.

It will run pretty fast.

You just can't run a 64 bit technology OS on a 32 bit technology platform, though the 64 bit OS is recommended on a 64 bit platform.

Love your brother, he did you no wrong.

Dell Precision 490 constant reboot after ghost image completed

Hello-

I figured out how to ghost a Dell Precision 490 with a 32 bit Windows XP Image! Like you I had the same problem where it would constantly reboot after I imaged it with an existing 490 image. The answer is actually very simple. Boot up your Precision 490 and hit F2 to enter the bios. Select Drives and then SATA Operation, change it to "Raid Autodetect / ATA". Reboot the 490 and re image the machine, it will now work!

Ibm thinkpad T40 Hard Drive change out

After fdisk and format you need to ensure that operative system is installed into yor hard drive. Using ghost you restore the image disk by booting from ghost image CD if you made a bootable image disk. Ensure Bios is set up to boot from CD.
If you used Norton Ghost ensure you captured the image of full bootable original hard disk drive for same computer. If it does not boot after restoring ghosted image, than the image it is probably not complete. If hard disk image is not good, easiest thing to do is using Windows install CD to installl again operative system, then you eventually restore ghost image.
