Brother 5250DN won't wake up.

Our Brother 5250DN laser printer rarely awakens from sleep to print. It is a network printer. After sending a print job the printer remains asleep. Pressing the "go" button only brings it out of sleep but does not start the print job. We have to turn off the power and restart the printer in order to get it to print the queued print jobs. Is there a solution to this, possibly turning off the sleep feature? We would like the printer to print without someone standing over it to push buttons and turn off/on the power.

Thanks.

SOURCE: out of paper light

I've been stuck with a flashing red paper light for a while. The printer could print from the manual tray and could also print test or diagnostic pages.
So I thought it might be driver related, and indeed it was.
There's a nasty setting in the printer properties that makes the printer go woo-hoo. So go to printer properties > tray settings. Check the "paper size" of "Tray 1". If it's set to "undefined", change it to your corresponding paper format. Click Update, Apply. Now print happily.
I still wonder why that setting magically changed. Hope this helps someone.

SOURCE: Printer doesnt come out of sleep mode (Brother MFC7420)

I'd be happy to give you the solution to this problem :)

You'll want to go into the menu and choose these options: 1,6, and 2. The final stop should give you the sleep menu.

The printer is setup for a default of 5 minutes. But you can change it from 00 to 99 minutes. To just shut it off, press the Options and Start button simultaneously and that will do the trick.

If I wasn't specific enough, the solution is on page 2-6

SOURCE: suddenly our 4 month old brother 5250dn laser

All lights on , you need to press the go and cancel buttons at the same time and see which lights are on, I'm sorry, I confused this model with another...you need to press both buttons to see which lights are on when both go and cancel are held. It sounds though like a main logic PCB problem, let me know what lights are on when you hold both buttons, there is no error that matches what you said earlier, but I told you the wrong buttons...

It may some paper jam inside your printer . open the front cover pull out the cartridge and look any jammed paper is there or not. if not the the problem may came from your toner drum.

My printer remains off line. I find no where in control panel or printer file where I can check an option to keep it on line.

Laser printers have a sleep mode they automatically enter to reduce power consumption. Normally they should respond with fairly quickly and awaken to a print job beign sent. ALthough you may not be able to override the sleep mode, you may be able to change how soon it goes into sleep mode in the advanced features. Otherwise, you should contact Brother support and ask the question to them. They will be able to tell you for certain.

It should wake up when a fax comes in or it receives a print job.

I want to find the MAC address on a Brother HL-5250DN mono laser printer. We run on a Windows XP Ethernet network. Is there a report page I can print straight from the Printer?

Go to Printers and Faxes.
Right click on the printer and select Properties.
Toward the bottom, click on Printing Preferences...
Click on the Support tab.
Click on Print Settings.

This should give you three pages. The third page has the network settings including Ethernet/MAC address.

Brother is totally fucked up under Leopard, found so far no chance to fix it.  Brother's own printer drivers are 10.4 only -- lame
